Yes, It's home made. I just glued pieces of the "hook" side of velcro to the door and jamb of the refrigerator and then used a piece of the "loop" side to hold it open. I put red tape on it so I'd see it before I drive away or when it's in the drawer.

Is the RED objective in the photo the refrigerator holder? I am always looking for something to hold the refrig door open when we are not traveling. Where did you purchase? NEAT. Aria

Reminds me of driving my Land Rover with just a battery, no generator. Timing was everything and I certainly wanted to be off theraod before I had to turn on the headlights!

Not sure what kind of tranny the Renault had, but as I was running on battery only and no juice from the alternator, that tranny was not downshifting by itself. I was a little bit nervous at that point as it was past dinner time and with the storm coming my daylight was just about over with. I don't think I tried to move the selector down into first gear. Although I know I had been manipulating that shifter all day long trying to keep my speed up with that head wind. I was so so lucky. That trip predates the cell phone and I was not carrying a CB. I would have been walking on a long lonely stretch of freeway otherwise.
