Southern pacific railroad and airstream

Doing some research on my 1957 overlander, California build. Spoke to former owner who explained the three round difficult to read emblem spots faded into the aluminum. Was advised that they were southern pacific railroad emblems, and that the trailer was used to house their employees working in the Mohave desert in California. Anyone familiar with this?

Thanks, viewed the web site. Mine was not so much of a special build like that, can't determine if airstream built to railroad specs, or whether railroad ordered a shell and modeled the inside. Appreciate again your taking the time to reply.

Have some pictures in my registry. For some reason I can't post pictures from my iPad. Basically had a small bed on each end, kitchen in the middle, and bathroom just to the rear of the kitchen. Was told it housed two employees at a time. Must have been tough on the employees in the mojave desert area! Did match the Southern Pacific insignia perfectly to the impression left on the trailer( left a shiny impression)

looks to be in great shape. are there pics of the interior? what are your plans for it?

We have just finished the mechanical so to speak. It is 100% functional, and the interior is largely completed. We joined the nor cal airstream club, and have our first real outing co ing soon. I will take some interior pictures tomorrow. We have largely kept it original. As previously posted it was originally owned by the Southern Pacific railroad, it was made to house to workers. We have made a small change to the sleeping area. Will try to post one to the her pre-renovation interior pictures. Started polishing two days ago, what a job!

Here ate some new photos. We have retained as much original airstream interior as we could. The woodwork was painted numerous times by previous owners. For those reasons we did paint woodwork etc.

Used original dining table, but moved it to the rear of the trailer where previously was a very small bed.

Removed a small closet and set of drawers from the front sleeping area and enlarged the bed. Again, this was built to house two railroad workers and the beds were not much more than the size of a small cot, one placed in the front and one placed in the rear.
