So I found a nice 59 Overlander international close by and I'm thinking about buying it.i have a few questions and was just hoping somebody out there could answer them for me.
It looks all original. Could it be possible that the bathroom is original with the pink tub,toilet and countertop sink? Kinda cool looking!
The floor looks surprisingly good, no soft spots anywhere.
Windows are good and work, front and rear are plexiglas but I'm hoping those are easy to replace. Anyone have any info on window replace? I'm hoping I can just get a glass shop to cut some glass for me.

I think someone here will know but I believe that the bathroom fixtures could be original. Do the windows still have hardware. If so take plexiglas out and have glass shop make you a Heat Tempered window glass with sanded edges and use the plexiglas as a pattern. The front and rear glass should be heat tempered as this will make them less likely to shatter and do other damage. Think of auto side glass... little bits of glass vs. large and tiny shards if broken. Should be $50.00 or so per window. I have done this on my trailer with great result. Hope this helps, Ed

Front and rear windows are probably the same as my 58. Relatively easy to replace with 1/8 tempered glass. Can't tell by the photo. Did they cut into the rear window frame with that AC unit? Also you'd have to live with replacing or patching round lights on the endcap panels. Ed

Thanks for the info BigEd and Someday59,Tg More pictures coming. The outside looks pretty good,some issues with the door hinges and it looks like the door has flown open and done some damage.

Those bath fixtures look original, but based on the bathroom configuration, I think that's a '61 or later. Did you get any photos of the VIN tag? The windows are not too difficult to replace. I just used 1/8th tempered and supplies from VTS to re-glaze all my windows. Frank posted a great series of instructions on window replacement here: Windows 101

The tub, flush and countertop are almost identical albeit in yellow to the 63 Tradewind we bought last week. Congrats. This is a great forum!

Thanks for the help,I did notice the front window hardware is intact the back window I did not notice but it didn't look like they cut the window frame.
What's up with the round running lights are they not original?

I was told the trailer is a California made unit that was actually purchase new here in El Paso which is really cool to hear.Could that have something to do with a different configuration? Here are some pictures of the tag.

The vents have to be missing something. Anyone have any pictures of vent covers?
I couldn't get the fresh water cap off by hand, hopefully that will come off with a bit more effort and some lube.

The round international tags are from '58 to '61, but the '59 and '60's I've seen were all built with just one wardrobe at the back and the toilet jammed into the corner with a very small vanity in the center under the window. Could be that the California models had a different configuration. Here is an Airstream brochure for the '59 model layout.

There are some door issues with this baby. When the door flew open it looks like it ripped the top hinge out of the skin and the lower hinge mount seems really flimsy almost like it's bolted to skin only. That can't be can it? You can see the PO's attempt to fix the top hinge. I'm concerned with the rip in the interior skin above the door, I wonder what's going on there.

I have some questions on the water heater cover that seems to be missing. What exactly is missing and is it possible to find one?

I looked the serial number and it looks like its a 60 after all.

The door handle is up side down compared to others I've seen on '59 & '60 units. Is this typical of an Overlander or is it CA specific?
It looks in pretty good shape on the outside. Nice find.

The pink bathroom fixtures are original to International models in those years. My 60 Ambassador has the same fixtures.

Sweet looking Overlander. Looks like a good find. The one thing that would concern me is the door frame. I don't have our Overlander here yet, but I looked at our Caravel and see a cast frame around the door. There is no chance of a crack in the door frame, is there? I see a number of missing rivets.

Overall, you will have MUCH less work than I will!

You will be Ok with the window if the framing is intact. I don't think those round running lights are original. Everything I have seen are teardrop shape if present at all. Believe it or not those door hinges are originally attached through only the one layer of 0.032 aluminum sheet. When I redid mine added some thick aluminum behind it and attached that to a nearby rib. Ed
