58 Overlander: The Bottle Rocket
With the purchase of my 58 Overlander, The Bottle Rocket, a few weeks ago, I thought I'd post here to show my progress and ask for advice along the way. It's a big project, but I'm really looking forward to it (though I have lots to learn).
Here are some initial photos for your viewing pleasure.

Looks very doable. Good luck, look forward to watching it come together.

Welcome new members. Your vintage Overlander will be an enjoyable challenge as you refurbish the rocket and get it travel ready. You will find many like minded and experienced members on these Air Forums.
I gave serious though to a 59 Overlander but decided against it due to the single axle on such a long trailer. For some reason your rocket looks even bigger, but it does have dual axles which is a plus.
Here are a couple of photos of the 59 Overlander I took a look it. It too had good bones. In fact, it was still being used as a weekender camper.
Vintage Overlanders are very popular trailers. At 26 feet, a nice size for comfortable traveling.

Nice find!
We're 2 1/2 hours south of you and I'd be happy to give you a tour of our '59 Overlander if you are in Western Mass sometime before the first of the year -- we're off to Arizona for a couple of months afterwards. We documented our thread here and I'd be happy to talk about our experiences, especially with the paint, electrical and plumbing.
Be sure to check out Reinergirl's thread. She's not far also, in New Hampshire.
Good luck with the restoration!
John

Thanks all for the kind words! I'm sure I'll need encouragement along the way, ha!
David, that's a nice looking trailer. The interior looks to be in much better shape than the rocket, for now anyway.
John, I'd love to check out your Overlander at some point. I took a peek at your thread and t's great to see all of the similarities between the trailers. Though, my interior has certainly seen better days. That being said, the rocket wouldn't be a great candidate for renovation as not much is salvageable. But, I'm looking forward to giving it some new life. My mom lives in Eastern Mass, so I'm back to visit from time to time. I'm sure she'd love to check it out too. Thanks for reaching out!
