'55 anyone have any idea what this is??

Found this today at Bates Airstream in Dover, FL. 1st thing that caught my eye was how low it's sitting to the ground. As I got closer, I realized that NO CURBSIDE door!

Door was on street-side.....

Plates show it as an Overlander??? Got a close-up of the VIN# to see if anyone can figure this out.

Good Luck, Derek

It looks like it's been cut down from a larger rig and "reconstructed" ...and since there are no wheels, it may have been used in a stationary fashion for an office or such.

Rich,

I plan on stopping by Bates RV again next week when I take a ride over to Lake Kissimmee State Park to check out the campground.

I did try and get inside today, but door was either locked or stuck shut. Already been told that model is a 1957, and looking at Airstream Plates, he's right. But, all Overlanders from '57 are 26 feet long.

Sure is a halfway decent hatchet job. Shame that it ever happened, the front and rear panels are in great shape!

Thanks, Derek

I can understand the fact about no 'wheels' but since there is such a HEAVY duty tow hitch, makes me wonder.....

Definite Frankenstream. The box on the stern must be for feet when sleeping.
