The latest updates

I am really seeing the end of the tunnel now - front gaucho is finished and installed - also a picture of Lewster himself installing my new a/c.

Next job is to finish my polish job and remove those ugly swirls.

Ken J, nothing like having the end in sight. We've put about 12,000 miles on our trailer since we finished it. enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

Suggestion!

You'd better buy some of these!

Stanchions for Hanging Ropes

It'll help keep order to the crowds who will gather when you pull in somewhere!

Nice rig! --dave

Thanks - I'm slowly using it on trips - when you rebuild one of these, you want to make sure everything holds together - so far so good -

I think I'll pass on the Stanchions for the hanging ropes - so far I've been able to hold the crowds back myself

WOW!!!! WHAT AN INSRIRATION!!!!If i didn't want to stay on this forum I would be using curse words to show how much i am impressed by your project. I have been reading all the older Overlander threads in order to create a linear plan for bringing our 62 back to original shape. Thank you for sharing... WOW, you should be very proud of yourself and wife should be proud of herself in supporting you throughout the 2 1/2 years it took.

Thank you very much for the kind words - we are now on 3 1/2 years and I've declared it finished. In reality its about 98% done - lots a little piddly stuff to do that I'm not in any hurry to do. This weekend we are taking it to our first vintage rally, so hopefully I'll post of picture or two.

Yours looks great too - looks like its in excellent shape! Much much better than what I start with. Good luck, welcome to the forums and keep us posted on your trailer.

BTW, my wife did give me a hard time for posting the above gaucho pictures with the tags showing on the pillows - - oh well, its a guy thing...

KenJ,

I l-o-v-e that interior!! The double-lamp wall-mount fixture with shades is great as well (post 43?).

As to cool, fifties-style? Yeah, to the critical eye . . . yet it is the NASA program Apollo-era look "What is an Airstream?", to most Americans that solidifies the look, overall. The most fun I've had listening to non-Airstream owners who, yet, own an Airstream harkens to that moment-in-glory.

Yeah, I'd rather have what you have for the likely "reasons" you chose that beaut (and have done such a fine job with). Emotional tugs are pretty funny, what we'll do for them, hey?

Thank you so much for your very kind words - I think its pretty cool too. As an update, I just got the belly on - finally! I'll be posting some pictures of that soon. For the past year or so we've just been enjoying it at local rallies. This spring I'm going to break down and get me a cyclo and clean up the swirl marks that are on it.

Regards and have a great holiday

Ken J, I sure hope that you fixed the frame stringers where the PO ran the waste plumbing. Cutting those stringers was a very bad thing to do. Kenny

Ummmm - huh - I thought it was a rather inventive way to run the plumbing.... keeps the belly nice and clean :-) :-)

Wow my last post on this was 2008 - how time flies......

Ken, I have several outlets toward back of my 58 Overlander that don't work.
Is there a fuse or fuse box somewere?

Update - I sold the Overlander - I used to have an 18ft Airstream Traveler that I really liked and I've always wanted a 22' Flying Cloud to ta da - I'm back in the rebuild mode - ohhh boy!

And my wife just bought a '58 Overlander- the cycle continues!
I guess once you got the swirls out there wasn't any point in continuing, eh?
