I think Lauren's got it right here. In all the residential applications I've seen, regardless of what's inside it, radiant barrier is used to improve the performance of existing insulation, not replace it completely. I think we all want the most out of our insulation--I know I debated myself 'batt'y over it (rimshot!). At the end of the day tho all that matters is it keeps you warm when it's cold out and vice versa. Not worth losing sleep over 1 or 2 R values.

But it's looking good and a little familiar to boot

It does appear EZcool and prodex are similar products. However, EZ cool is being applied directly to the exterior walls of cars and tested without the airgap. But it also isn't claiming R16.

Calis, yes - looks familiar!

I had been trying to upload a photo of my door area. lets see if this works:

a little late on friday update. i've been sick. strep. ugh...

First I sprayed the interior walls with truck bed liner. Then I cut spacers out of three-quarter inch foam insulation. On top of that is the ezcool.

I got 3 rolls at a cost of $555 delivered. where did my calculations go wrong? I worked friday sat and sunday and hubby worked today on it, and we have both sides done but neither end cap. we haven't even gotten through 1 roll.

I sealed the top of each section w metal tape.

This pic was from friday.

NJtoNC, how did you attach the spacers to the interior of the outside skin, or spray liner, and how did you attach the EZ cool to the spacers?

What prep did you use to assure the spray liner would bond to the skin?

we used construction adhesive to glue the spacers on, then more adhesive to glue the ezcool to the spacers.

prep? I don't need no stinkin prep! this is the kid of truck bed liner from a spray can at lowes. IT's not really something id use on a truck bed BTW... it DOES have some good texture to it, its a heavy spray, but not like 'real' truck bed liners. this stuff is designed to be sprayed onto bare metal though. The interior of the shell was very clean, the TBL adhered to the aluminum well, and it also adheres to the old tar-like stuff used over the seams in some places.
