No keep. I am "slimming" down. The Cloud and the front kitchen Safari next. Get down to one...ONLY one. Same with the cars and motorcycles.

You have done a great job choosing flooring/countertop/upholstery fabric, and I love aqua, that's one of our fabrics in our 25' Safari, it feels so relaxing to me.

I forgot to mention to keep the scale of the contrast fabric smaller than the upholstery fabric -- something that won't "fight" with the pattern in the upholstery fabric. (For example, I often use a 1/4" check or a small type of stripe as a contrast fabric.) You'll need to lay out a flooring sample, upholstery scrap, and a cutoff of the boomerang countertop when you go looking for fabrics, that's the best way to get a good feel for it.

I just looked over your pics again -- that all blends in so well, and your flooring and upholstery fabric works very well together. For some reason, looking at your upholstery fabric feels good, I think it's the combination of the colors as well as the patterns. Nice fabric. And the richness of the color of the flooring gives off a warmth.

When we were in Albuquerque for the Vintage Trailer Academy earlier this month, we took a day and went to Santa Fe (love that town!), anyway, we bought several thinish rugs for me to upholster the seat in a rad rod Frank is getting ready to build, somewhat different patterns, same colors in them, scale of patterns work well together -- I can't wait to get started on upholstering that seat! We wanted Indian blankets, but..........have you priced them lately? Whoa, of course the ones we liked (I picked out) were thousands of $$/blanket, so of course they were out of the picture. I always seem to be drawn right to the priciest of whatever.

Deb - Having a good sense of style can't be inexpensive. It's either a good match, or it ain't. It must be a hell of a burden for you to carry.. Jim

I second SCopp.
I like the natural elements of metal wood and stone. Turquoise is stone, a great color and you can even find actual real turquoise accent pieces. Or better, plastic turquoise pieces. Nothing says this is old but modern like a good 50's piece of plastic.

Jim,

Well, it goes like this for me about sense of style: It's easier for me to work within a budget for a client than it is doing so for us. With regards to a key piece for our home or AS, I'll do without until I can get the "ideal" thing sometimes. I have a strong feeling about what works best and it's very difficult for me to go in a different direction.

Now, having said that, I'm not one to go all out and "risk the farm" because of having to have just the right thing, there is a line there (and I'm certain I pinch pennies with the best of them). I cut corners where I can on many things, but there are certain items which are key and need to be just right; I'm very used to doing without "this" in order to have "that". Thinking of the rad rod, the paint will be the blue suede matte finish paint, so the statement on this chopped truck with a homemade very small truck bed will be the bench seat. I talked with DH and suggested we cut the top off entirely and we'll do a Carson Top (hard, removable top), and DH wants to rivet on some aluminum onto the Carson Top. The windshield will be chopped as well as the side windows. So, when the top is off, the seat will really stand out -- very striking. Expensive Indian blankets were out of the question, but the thinish rugs we found had patterns which were somewhat in that same line, and the colors worked well.

I am all about color/texture/patterns -- I'm like a kid in a candy store when my new Fall/Spring line of fabric sample books arrive. I suppose it's a little like those who work with tools really get into looking at a new tool which has come out or a special one which they don't have yet.

Deb - Re my post #365 above, you do know I was only funnin' ya, don't ya? I already know I like your 'vision' as it applies to the work you & your DH are doing on your Stream, so I was only giving you a bump of sorts. Axually, was meant as a compliment.

Jim, yes I do know that, and no harm done -- I took it as a compliment, thanks. (I was smiling as I read it.)

On the flip side, I got to thinking that someone (who doesn't know me) might think that I'm really out there spending, spending, and there couldn't be anything further from the truth. I've been told I worry too much about what others think, but I guess that's just me.

Hoping you're having a great holiday weekend, it's lovely here in Ohio, for a change! In the 70's and sunny, sunny, just a few clouds in that blue sky!

Deb

(Thanks again!)

These photos are the initial cut and fit

More on the cushions. Curtains next week. Remember...I wanted color and not a bland plastic look.

I love that fabric with the wood, very nice elegant choice! I like color and I like where you're going with this.

I agree, the upholstery fabric works very well with the wood -- gives a warm feeling and I can't wait to see what you've chosen for the window treats!

planning

Here is another pic of the bed with the fabric pinned on. The bottom on the left is the portion which is on the linear actuator and it comes out 18 inches. That dictates the height of the back cushion. Here also are some pics of some old curtains I had. I put them up to check clearances top and bottom. Some clearance issues in both places. What do you all think about the curtains....should they have a double pleat or just single at the top...like these...?

Bubble 1

Robin
It looks like your make good head way on Bubble 2 and I like all the colors. Beth is working on getting throw pillows and a rug for Bubble 1 to add color. We are enjoying Bubble 1 out here in Huntington Beach. I have had to work for the last 2 weeks and now will have some time off -- I hate it when work gets in the way. We hare taking Bubble 1 down to the beach this week and have dinner. Will send picture.

Robin, I'm not certain what you mean by a double pleat, to me that would be a pair of pleats then a space, another pair of pleats, then space, etc. I think you may be speaking of "fingers" in the pleats, is that right? For instance, the most common of pleats are called pinch pleats and they normally have three fingers and are called "three finger pinch pleats" (this is getting a little technical, I know), but there are also "two finger pinch pleats". (By the way, I call my pinch pleats "French pleats", just a little nicer name for high-end work.)

I'm going with talking about the number of fingers in your pleats: a part of this discussion would cover fullness of your draperies; you can add fullness by having a little larger pleat (meaning more fabric in each pleat), but also having another finger in them allows more fabric without having the bulk of a larger pleat which would stick out into the room further, thus fullness too. Considering this is a Bubble and tight spaces, I'm wondering if you want to keep fullness to a minimum and are really having the fabric to add color and texture/warmth. I'd probably go with a two-finger pleat.

In our Bubble I've been thinking of fabricating Roman shades which have a clutch system of components and are raised/lowered by a continuous bead chain -- no cords/cleat. We'll have the fabric for added color/texture/light blockage (I'll use blackout lining), and they will stay flush with the wall; I may have to use a small bracket on the bottom to keep against the walls if necessary.
