That would be so disappointing. But, on the flip side, from my point of view (which is much behind you on working on our Bubble at this point), overall, your new interior skins look good.
I didn't realize there is a coating available for the aluminum. Is there a solution to this problem for someone who hasn't applied any of it yet? (Trying to avoid future problems.)
We haven't been able to do any work on ours since the weather turned. We were able to get her into the shop, but just. Of course the area that has the large overhead door is the same place we have the auto lift, which takes up quite a bit of space. There's not enough room on either side of her to get in there and do anything. I was hoping to be able to get the polishing and sealing completed this winter.

and it continues
Well, I had to remove the entire ceiling, which includes all the AC stuff, and replaced the aluminum sheet with new. Had to buy another quart of Diamond Brite and a can of their cleaner/prep. And the story goes on…..when I applied and washed the new polished aluminum in went dull. Seems as though the prep is a mild solution of aluminum prep for painting……an acid etch. So contrary to the company tech rep instructions and guidance….I was stuck with a shiny matt aluminum. I will have to stay with it for now and will con side Zolatone in future if I can't stand the new look. I am awaiting the new custom black tank and misc trim parts before I start the floor install and woodwork.

interior work
I decided to try cabinet work myself. Never have done that, even though I have built my Timberframe home. So, here goes.
I am using maple as my wood of choice and planning on staining it a dark honey color. Jeeze! Maple is expensive!

I used maple for my cabinetry too. If you have a Menards nearby, they have pieces that are square on three edges only. It's a little less expensive than the completely square lumber. They have frequent sales too. After making my cabinets, cutting pine is like cutting soft butter! I'm keeping a close eye on your progress & electric gaucho!!! :-D. Dinette looks great!

to late on the maple
Darn...I already bought and cut the maple. You watching me closely makes me nervous...your such a perfectionist. I had not planned a 12v access down low where I need it for the linear actuator....so, opening up a wall and getting that wired is my project next week. Camping this weekend and road repairing from the ice storms, as I can, in the interim.

I think your benches look great! And I think the shiny matte might be great at concealing fingerprints and smudges.....

Don't be nervous.......plenty of my expensive maple is being used as starter wood in the fireplace this year.....I just try not to talk about my screw-ups!

Bubble catching up
I am fascinated with this forum - so much new information and nicely compartmentalized to model and year so I am reimmersing myself in Bubble lore! I started at the beginning but when I got to the part about the trailer coming uncoupled - well that got my attention! I'd probably have hit the brakes and put both rigs in a ditch at best.
When the rig is hitched and the coupler is down in place, one should not put a long hasp lock in the holes? Why not - is the metal hasp not strong enough? What should one use? Guess I've just been lucky so far but at least my safety chains were new.
After all the work on my Bubble, just this past summer I was towing it home from a local lake with my little fiberglass boat atop the truck shell when the boat loader parted company with the shell, sending the heavy aluminum loader and the boat flying into the front of the trailer. LOUD - I asked husband, "What was THAT?". He looked out and said, "We no longer have a boat". Front panels of trailer all dented in, boat & loader about a mile behind us in the ditch. Wow - went home, dropped the poor Bubble and went back to recover the flying boat (we loaded it into truck) but the loader was so heavy had to hid it under a willow tree until we could get more muscle the following day.
Eventually got the dents rolled out (after removing inside panels) but every time I look up there I swear they're coming back. Jw

That is awesome looking work, not a single 2x4 or piece of 3/4" ply to be seen...
I'm serious.

Grasslands Rally....
I needed a break....went to the Grasslands which is remote, however, near to where I live.
Directions were go South and turn at the Bethel Baptist Church sign. Do you have ANY CLUE as to how many signs they put up for the Bethel Baptist Church...? Someday I have to go there...

I will never get there from here
You mean three more Bethel Baptist Churches? I will never get to the Grasslands from here again.

there's one right down the street where I grew up in Evergreen Park, Illinois too! It's an epidemic! (not that Bethel Baptist Churches are bad, though!)

Past the Church...on to Cabinets
Its cold here this week. I am working in the Red Barn on carpentry. All new to me, so it is going slow. I chose maple and am planning on a golden mahogany stain. So far it is like a huge puzzle...front area, left side, bath, and beds. I hope it all comes together.

Note on the cabinets....I am very space limited in the Bubbles. So I put doors and drawers whoever I can.

Are the planks on the floor spacers as if you have plans to put the cabinetry on top of flooring? I would put it on the subfloor and put the flooring around it. If you or the FO (future owner) ever want to change out the flooring it will be much easier. Also, take into consideration of how much actual flooring that you will ever see or walk on. Why put in more. More money. More weight.

more work
Your right Gene....I am going to do the entire floor because I like the finished look it gives. Admittedly....most of the floor will be covered up.....but come visit and look inside the cabinets and under the stove. OCD at its best.
Some new pics of what I am working on daily.

I saw similar sinks on a WWII submarine. My first thought was that folding SS sinks would look great in a vintage AS.
