Robin

What size Mach 8 did you install and how is the noise with the various fan levels. Is it controlled by a wall digital thermostat?

Got the electrical system in and operational ....The Mach 8 is in and operational. The new axle and brakes are in and operational. New step is on and operational. Propane tanks and regulator on....awaiting line installation. Battery box installed and new battery installed at same time. Took her out for a short tow and hit a mud hole....I need mud flaps.

Mach 8

OK....side by side with a Carrier low profile 15,000 BTU....the Mach 8 is as quiet...slightly quieter than the Carrier....outside. Inside the \Carrier is quieter but this may be because of the superior insulation all around. This was on low fan

When the fan cycled to high there was a slight increase in noise but not to the extremes mentioned elsewhere.

I like. It was 920$ including tax and shipping....the best price I could find without going berserk.

Do you have a local supplier for the 5052 with the plastic on it? I forgot to ask my local folks about that option.

I'm still a few months away from needed some but it never hurts to start looking.

Yes on the supplier. He is in Fort Worth and at 30$ for a 4 x 8 with the coating .....I like it.

Do you know what he gets for Al-Clad. Or can you PM who he is and I'll call.

How nice! Everything looks so neat, clean, smooth.............really nice! Glad to hear that the Mach 8 is functioning as you'd like; I imagine that is the one we'll get too.

I can't tell from your pics, but are your exterior end cap skins rounded seams? If so, did you seal them? I guess I'm really asking if there's a need to seal them. I was told those type would never leak due to the fact that they are interlocking seams, sort of like the way the windos fit together -- if our windows are the same, I know you'l understand what I'm trying to say. Thanks.

I really like the work you've been doing.

Deb

Hi Deb....Those end caps were sealed from the inside with a rubberized pray coating....like bed liner. I use it in the wheel wells too. On the outside I use Par Bond after polishing. Those beads on the panel are not seals and probably will leak some if not sealed again from the outside.

Today I go inside and do the riveting of the panels...lots and lots of rivets. I may do some light installs too. I got puck type lights (LED) with individual switches....I still need to find lights for under the cabinets, shelves and the reading type bunk light in the rear corner wall.

Thanks, Robin, for that information, now I just need to find out the name of that spray coating. In case you'd like to compare skins or windows, I was finally able to download two pics of the outside of our endcaps, a portion of each, so a front and a rear. You can see that we're still trying to cut through all that oxidation, and then we'll get serious about polishing -- from the top down as you suggested.

I have really messed up -- I should have started a file with suggestions; hints; whatever, I did print off some, but some I thought, "Oh, I'll remember that and where I read that", but, as you might have guessed, I now can't remember it all. Lesson learned.

Hope you were able to get a lot of riveting accomplished today.

Thanks again.

Deb

I too put on pray coating. Put it on and pray it doesn't leak.

one thing I do

On all my Airstreams I am sure to have electrical access outside on the curb side. I even put a 12v plug in on BUB.

Can't see much, but the new axle/brakes/wheels and tires are on too.

Those electrical outlets on the curb side come in handy. We like to put the picnic table's end close to the trailer under the open awning, so the outlet is used for whatever we have sitting there to be plugged in -- radio, toaster, coffee pot, etc. Especially nice to sit there early in the morning when it's a little cool, a gentle breeze with a nice warm cup of coffee, breakfast, and good conversation with DH.

Couldn't see the axle/brakes, but the wheels and tires look good!

Deb
