It is insane. It's also a blast to watch. There is so much junk on the race track, you just wouldn't believe it. People tow boats & pop-up campers & sometimes travel trailers. Last week someone had a bunkhouse that was about 24 ft long. They lost the entire top of the camper on a fast turn & all that was left was the toilet and the bottom of the trailer. He was still in contention since he was still towing a trailer! There were boats pieces & camper pieces all over the place! I still think an Airstream would be a great tower!

I went to see a 60's 30 footer here that was advertised as a resto project. There was nothing much left to restore! No floor or wall on the back bath room, not much of the front either, and all sorts of parts missing.
Advertised for 4500...Yup... dollars.

You can't make crazy claims about a demolition derby with trailers without sharing some pictures... Is this event the same weekend of lawn mower racing.. Lets see some photos

I'm sorry to say I don't have any. I'll take some when they do it again in the fall. I might be able to get ahold of some from my sister. They had one of their employees drive their rig because my brother-in-law did it last year and was traumatized for life. He has a marina & plenty of trailers & boats to donate. He actuallly had the audacity to say he should take my Airstream & enter it next time. I was quite offended! They are in Oshkosh with it right now & called me to tell me that the Airstream is the main attraction on the airport campground. Now maybe they have decided it's not just an "old camper" after all!

I may be nuts but I do believe that I have seen this one before.... Something on these forums perhaps???? This trailer looks so familiar.

Creativity

Sometime Creativity has it's problems. Just look at some of the mistakes Mother Nature has made. The ground cracks in this picture, If it were in L.A., make me think that Mother Nature was seriously thinking about swallowing it up.

Okay, I promised everyone pictures of the trailer race. The winner of the race is the last vehicle with a trailer intact. My nephew drove a black station wagon with a pop-up attached. He wound up actually INSIDE of a travel trailer & took a bunch of laps like that. He never did get out of there! Anyhow, here they are--I don't know how to comment in between, but you'll get the idea!

They do it in the early summer & fall. Right now there are rumors that the racetrack is going to be sold for development. It's at Illiana Speedway in Schererville, Indiana if you want to look up their website.
