Two kinds:
1) For the Backframe Gasket Black 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive
2) And get this, for the Glass Seal, (the horror of it
) tiny little dabs 2-3" o.c. of clear automotive %#$@*! silicone on the backside, under the seal, but, but, but it's hidden by the trim!!!
I absolutely
hated doing it after the great efforts it takes to clean all that %#$@* crud off, but the Glass Seal is made from silicone, it's kinda loose - not sure it would hold up to polishing over time - without something besides the metal trim pieces & the glass holding in place. That coupled with the fact that the Weatherstrip Adhesive is black (or yellow) and the seal is gray
and it didn't stick well to the silicone seal, made me do it! I
KNOW %#$@*! silicone is not a good waterproof sealant and shouldn't be used for that purpose, however, it
DOES stick to aluminum really well - albeit when it
wants to and it may not be waterproof, but as a non-waterproof adhesive it works very well!!! I didn't glue the window in, just tacked the seal in place. I kinda figured, the seals lasted almost 52+ years the first time...so I shouldn't have to replace it in my lifetime! I certainly didn't want the seal to come out thus having to deal with this again ~ I have seen lots of trailers where this seal shrinks or gets droopy over time...if a window breaks, I will have to re-do it, but the glass can be replaced without removing the whole window from the trailer.
So there, I confess...
I used %#$@*! silicone on my trailer ~
You all happy now?
Shari
