I am proud to announce we have adopted a 1956 Safari double w/bunk today!!!! She weighs in at a whooping 2730 lbs and is 22' long. The interior is "all there" and the outside, while never polished is very straight and has no major damage - just some black rub-marks.
We adopted her from the grand-daughter of the original owner. We have named her "Lily Bird" after grandma but she will go by "Birdie". She does need some TLC...but I'm ready to take on another project ~ and as Fred said, she's "...just waiting to be released from the white paint jail".
Project #1 Strip the white paint on the wood, the "lovely" green & white sponge paint on the walls and green & black on the counters...not to mention the wallpaper & stick-on tiles and floral everything!
#2 Step back and see what's salvageable!
We'll do our best to bring her back to her original glory ~
Shari

No Way. Congratulations!!!!!! I love the white porcelin appliance fronts, hope you can salvage them and that is a neat layout. Think you can bring her to Perry?

The 'decorator' appeared to have done a good job albeit not to your style. Lynn and I 'decorated' our first house, the whole house, in the early 70s. Of course we personalized it too much. When it came time to move up we had no problem selling it to a couple that "Just Loved it!" 3 weeks after the sale I drove by our former house and the driveway and front lawn was strewn with all our 'decorations' cabinets, counters, fireplace mantle. I guess they were 'decorating' too. Your project looks like it is in great condition. Now you 'personalize' it your way all you want. We won't say anything.

Shari, you can probably finance the restoration by Ebaying those stabilizers...
Seriously, it looks great, and looking at the positive side, the paint and flowers may have protected the woodwork underneath, depending on the paint used.
Congratulations on your new "daughter". She's a beauty. have fun redecorating and don't forget the pictures.

Oh Shari, congrats,
I wondered if something was up from hints in your posts in other threads about getting another trailer...
Have a name in mind yet? I can't wait to see what you do to this one. What a gorgeous shell!!
