We made some progress this last weekend between doing our taxes and waiting for finish to dry...:

Here's one little, tedious thing that's now out of the way ~

We also made HUGE progress on the bathroom...remember the "before"? Looking thru the "drop to daylight" hole in our bathroom...check out how awful the stainless steel pan is! Here's the "after", before the pan went down ~

First we installed a Tornado tank sprayer into the black tank, sounds easy, but trying to get it place so it made sense on the outside of the trailer was tricky. Then we water tested the tank to make sure there were no leaks before installing it ~ worked great, no leaks!

Next it was onto the inside...here's some pics of the new holes, tank, platform & pan that we put in. We had the shower pan made (welded) by a kitchen consultant that has done some work on some of my restaurant projects. He also sold us some flat stainless steel material so we could make the tank cover ourselves. Fred came over to help and work on a project of his own...

Today, we picked up some lightweight stainless steel (24 ga) for the bathroom walls. The old panels were aluminum and were full of holes and in pretty sorry shape...so rather than trying to polish them and fill the holes with rivets, we had another "slippery slope, while we're at it" moment...thus the stainless steel.

Our short-term goal is to get the wood & ss panels in the bathroom, the walls permanently secured and the kitchen cabinets installed this next weekend before we head out to the FCU Restoration Rally. Wish us luck...that's alot to do in a couple of days. We do have day jobs after all...and I have to leave town on business this week, so not as much progress for me as I'd like, but we'll get done what we can.

Shari

Beautiful work Shari, can't wait to meet you at the FCU Resto-rally. Just one of the many questions I would like to ask you is; where did you get your tank made?

I don't know how your weather is in Colorado but we've had nothing but rain and snow here in Utah. I'm in the middle of a floor replacement and it's nip-n-tuck as whether my Caravel will be towable by next week. I'll be there with or without "Towby".

We're looking forward to meeting a bunch of new folks too! The tank question is an easy one...check out this thread starting around post #127 through 149 or so, there's lots of info (incl. drawings, resources & $$$) on our tanks posted.

We've been hit 'n miss with our snow. Overall, it's been a mild winter - but it does seem to be warmer during the week compared to the weekends...bummer! We're going to be towable - a near empty shell with "hints" of the end in sight, not pretty - but towable. See you there!

Uh, in true form, this weekend is a "hit". The rain switched to snow about 6 am this morning...expecting 12-20" in the next 36 hours. Oh joy!

Not going to stop us from getting things done, I'll just have to get out the comfort food recipes to warm us up~

The storm that's hitting you now is a juicy one, we had record snowfall and record low temps. in Utah.

A heated indoor shop would be heaven.

The good news; warmer, spring-like weather for the next four to five days.

Nothing like spring in Colorado. Now that I think of it, didn't we have spring in Feb-Mar and now we're having winter?

I'm just glad this isn't next Friday, when we're all heading out to the 4CU Maintenance Rally!

Shari,

Was your shower pan always rectangular or did you change that from one with one corner of it being curved?

The old pan was one piece, but the new pan is two pieces to allow for the above floor black tank. Being that the bathroom is in the corner, the tank had to go on top of the floor OR hang below the belly pan and be a very visible ugly "wart" on the front/bottom of the trailer disrupting the banana wraps. So the bathroom/shower is the same shape, but the pan is stepped. There will be a trim on the top level to seal the joint of the new pan to the walls when we are done. Make sense? I'll try & post more pics this weekend, we got the stainless wall panels installed evenings this week...we're very happy with how it all turned out!

Originally we had hoped to just cut the old pan and use it 1/2 on top and 1/2 on the bottom, but the old drain hole was in just the wrong place and the pan was really too cruddy to clean-up and re-use.

Shari

Actually, aside from the shape of shower pan, my wet bath looks just like that in the Bambi, with the toilet raised. Here is your wet bath with the shape of my shower pan in green. I am trying to find a replacement.

Kip,

Look up some Courtesy Parking people in BC maybe they will let you stay in their airstream! I know I would.
