1954 18 footer

Can anyone tell me the overall height of a 1954 18 footer? I am considering transporting one from out of state and I need to know if it will fit in my carport. I would very much appreciate it if someone can measure, or happens to know, the height from ground (tires inflated) to the top of the roof vents. Unfortunately I cannot access the trailer until I will be moving it. Many thanks.

My 1951 Flying Cloud is 7'11" with 215 x 15 tires on it.

Mine does not have A/C

That height does not cover the two vents on top which are about 6" to 9" each in height (guessing on that)

If yours has the original split rims the wheel size is 16.5 so you can count on more height there and it also depends on how sagged your springs are.

My best guess is that you should allow for up to 10'.

I hope that gives you some idea, but again, slightly different model and a couple of years older.

Many thanks, Barry, for the information. In addition to your reply I also found a posting with a copy of a 1954 brochure which specs the overall height as 8'-4". So, I'm hoping that I can squeeze the trailer underneath an 8'-6" clearance. Perhaps I'll need to deflate the tires a bit to make it!

If you find you need to deflate the tires by a lot a consideration would be to pick up an extra set of rims with very low tires on the (in height terms) that you use just for when it is stored. Extra work of course to change them but just as a thought.
