Happy New Year! I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy friends and family and, of course, their prized Airstreams!

BerryIowa, seal very tight and the door a little hard to close. Sounds like Airstream to me. Great work.

Sorry no pictures.

Barry - It was wonderful to meet you at the Iowa Unit Rally!

You too Kathy and I'm excited to keep up on the progress of your new addition. Since they're twins, I'm sure a lot of information will be going back on forth! Hope to you and Scott soon. We are still planning on joining the club I just need to dig out the paperwork. With all of the snow, it hasn't been at the top of the list.

It is now March 14th and this thread of yours, dear brother, hasn't been updated in some time. Surely, your mild winter and a garaged Airstream hasn't kept you from making any progress. What gives???

Not much progress on the 55 but I am in the middle of a huge Air Stream related project. I'm raising my garage 2.5 feet so I can install a 9' overhead door and I think all of you know why!!!!

Garage Lift

I made some progress over the weekend on my garage lift. The first step is to cut out 1' of drywall around the perimeter of the garage to ID all of the electrical. I have both 30' walls opened up and a bit of the back 20' wall (pictured.) The next step will be to cut an access hole into the ceiling and the turn off the electrical panel and pull out as much of the wiring as necessary. Then I will use a Sawzall to cut around the perimeter before starting to build the poles, beams and jacks that will lift the roof! More pics to come. I can not find a YouTube video on a project similar to this so I'm on my own. The goal will be to build a 2.5' wall on top of the current 8' walls and then lower the hip roof back down on it and then install a 9' overhead door so my baby can be restored all year round. Once restored, I'll have a nice place to keep her that way. Ideas are welcome.

Exterior Door Seal

I'm wondering if anyone knows if this seal will work for a 1955 Flying Cloud for the exterior door and the door within a door?
Airstream Door Gasket

I know this is the right seal that attaches to the trailer that serves as the secondary seal and I will be ordering this one in the next day or two.

Also, if anyone has an extra length of the first seal I mention above, I would be happy to purchase it from you since it is currently out of stock at VTS.

Fantastic plan, I know many of us wish we could do a similar project. My only suggestion is to make absolutely sure you've measured where the door and the opener will sit at their lowest points.

I'd sure hate to read in a month that you did all this work... and then were off by an inch.

We had to use a 9.5' door to get our Bambi in the garage. The AC fits but we remove the small black antenna. The garage door opener we mounted to the side so the AC would clear. Love having it in the garage at home.

That door gasket should work, it is for the door in a door. Are you planning on doubling up the seal as they describe? Does your trailer currently have it doubled? (Our rig has a single flange seal, the seal on the "inner" door, then the riveted on seal like you showed. PO used the square type weatherstripping and a ton of sealant/adhesive on ours, going to be a chore to clean before putting on a new seal.) I was going to order one soon, until you mentioned they are out of stock . Guess I better get busy ordering before they run out of anything else I may need.
