Cant find how to make anew post so soory if this is not correct. I had new axle and springs in my 54 22 ft flying cloud and it swayed (above 55). Shop said they accidently installed leafs to soft and they flattened. Now with new 5 leaf 26 inch x 1/34 leafs, sway is under control howeverr it bounces very hard. That tells me leafs are to strong. What is the proper rating for my trailer? I have a 2 1/4 inch axle and tounge weight is 290. That sugests a leaf of 2000lb or less. Anyone have iinput?

twood, you probably won’t get much response to your leaf springs here. You can go down to “SITEMAP” and click on that. Page down until you see AXLES. Click on that. When the knowledge base comes up, hit axles and you will see “New Thread” on the upper left. So, you want to restore the original Hadco axle? We installed a Dexter torsion on our 55. I still have the old Hadco if you need any measurements. Good luck

1954 Flying Cloud #7695 renovation (finally)

After a ten year delay due to health issues and various other reasons we won’t go into, the much anticipated renovation of our fourth airstream has begun. I have obviously had a lot of time to think about what would be the best design. We have settled on a floor plan based on the DWR 2008 Bambi, but taking advantage of the extra five feet of length, adding a larger bath and the addition of a combo washer/dryer unit. I will be posting the first pictures of the renovation so far.

Please start a renovation thread dedicated to your 54 FC project so we can all follow along. Thanks and have fun.

Confession: everytime this thread pops up in my fees, I initially think, 'oh, I need to put ours on this list', then stop myself and go 'oh right, this is for the vintage ones', whereas my Flying Cloud is a newer one, not the original.

Have to admit, even if mine isn't a vintage one, I'm still tickled that so many vintage ones are still being loved.
