I'm going to the source. I've been looking for some specs on th 55 Flying Cloud we own. I don't seem to be able to search in the right place. Can someone tell me what my trailer weighed when new?
And a place to find other specs.
Thanks Don

Lee, you beat me to it. Here's the link for the '55 FC:

I think you'll find most of the info you're looking for here.

Yes it has been quite a long time time since I have posted to to my own thread. A lot has been going on. We are closing in on 100 Flying Clouds now. Here are my latest numbers. Dear All, and Captain jones- the cloud counter!
I have just bought a rather special 1951 flying cloud no.7104, it has 15 panels! (not a standard 13 panel, but 15! Anybody know how rare these are?
a friend rang Airstream Co, and apparently they only new of 3!
this cloud definetly has a silver lining.
regards Duncan @ silverlining

Collyerwood,

That is a very nice and rare find. I hope that Joe from the VAC chimes in, but you are in small company with a trailer like that.

More pics please!

Add another 56 To the list

Wally and Janni Holsclaw Yakima, WA.

We acquired our 22' Flying Cloud in September. It was made in California, is a whale tail and doesn't have a name tag, just the number. S/N 8066
It's gutted so I have lots of work to do.

Rivet 15 panel 1951 flying cloud

Dear All,

Here are a few more pics of my 15 panel, I do not have any pics of the interior as it is completely gutted, nothing inside what so ever.

I would like to retro fit the interior with a design similar to what was originally fitted in 1951, but with all the mod-cons ie hotwater- stereo- led lighting etc...

These trailers are on leaf springs, with no shock- absorbers! Has anyone ever had any problems with interior fittings becoming loose, from excessive bouncing along the road?

all the best Duncan

Hi Duncan. Great trailer and I wish you all the best on retrofitting its interior with modern conveniences. My '59 has a straight axle with only leaf springs and I don't have an issue with things bouncing around. I think once the door above the fridge came open on my travels. Now, to let you know, I take my trailer down some fairly rough dirt roads so its not all pavement. You shouldn't have a problem if your weight inside is balanced properly. By that I mean side to side and front to rear. Planning out your interior appointments and balancing them will really aid to your trailer traveling without much bouncing.

I have leaf springs on my 59 Traveler, it rides well, no problems so far. Its been about 3 years of pulling it after the restoration.
