Flying Cloud Serial # 3508

Okay you Flying Clouders, here is one more serial number for you. #3508. A 1958 with curbside bath and sreetside Galley. Lots of windows on the Galley side. We tow it with a 1958 Cadillac Sedan Deville. We bought it in September 2008, put tires on it and greased the wheel bearings, then pulled it from Boise ID to the Oregon coast and back (1500 miles).
When we returned I parked it in the patio and spent 500 hours on the interior. Attached are some pictures.

What a nice rig you have. The Caddy looks perfect in front of the 'Cloud. My buddy picked up a '53 Flying Cloud out of Boise last March. It needs some work but is pretty decent. He'll be towing it with his '57 Pontiac 2dr sedan (red and silver).

It sure is fun towing our vintage with vintage and for my wife and I at least, we enjoy it more so because we too are vintage.

Ok you guy's have inspired me to post my current progress on my 1954 FC, the chassis is complete with a boxed frame, Dexter axle and electric hydraulic brakes. I have nearly completed the exterior skin, hopefully will start on the interior in the next few weeks.

Just wondering if Captain Jones is still updating the registry? Haven't seen a posting in awhile. If so, we are in the process of reconstructing a 1962 Flying Cloud. Numbers are:

6204 22TS S0806

You can check out our progress on our blog at :

http://www.airforums.com/forums/blog...struction-143/

Thanks!

I think we need to see pictures of this puppy. If I've missed them elsewhere please direct me to that thread. It seems we just can't get enough of viewing Flying Clouds.

Oh my goodness, it is THAT F.C. How could I forget. Thanks for the reminder Mark. It is the old age thingy catching up I think. I love the rig - the caddy just screams "put an Airstream behind me" and vice versa.

Thumbs up Fiftythree Flying Cloud

Hi Captain Jones & Fellow Flying Clouders

Maybe I should be posting here more often but there isn't enough time to cover all bases & I'm uploading most pictures to my restoration blog; Fiftythree Flying Cloud. So if you're interested check out:

Fiftythree Flying Cloud

I imported her (0 - 3069) to the UK last year & am trying to bring her beck to her former glory - I know that there are some that take issue with us Brits taking a slice of your heritage but we do have a long history of loving Americana & after all these trailers were built to travel - so do take a look at my progress. Your experience & advice is always welcome.

Best to all with their heads in the Clouds.

Chris

Rosie and Rita

Mark and Barry. The puppy "Lovely Rita" with head out the window of the DeVille has gone were all good dogs go. She died on my birthday October 15th in our living room. She was only 2.5 years old. We had taken our maiden voyage in September from Boise to Oregon Coast with her sister Rosie. Attached is a photo of both on the way home.

It is always sad when one of our pets leaves us. She looks pretty happy in the pictures. I have never met a puppy that did not love a ride in a car, or a stay in a camp ground, so I suspect her last trip was one filled with pleasure and happy times with the family.

Thanks for posting more pictures of your rig. It is gorgeous.

Barry

Beautiful trailer!

Sorry for your loss. I am sure you miss her a lot. One day I hope my trailer will look as good as yours, but I still have a long way to go!

Hello every one,
My wife and I have found so much information here by reading the forums. Thank to all for sharing your stories and triumphs. A friend of ours said there is a registry list for the Flying Cloud and that we should post ours. We have a 1955 (#7788). We believe that the Flying Cloud is about prefect in size and weight. They tow well and don't seem to mind crosswinds. We have a '62 Cloud and have been enjoying campouts and rallies, and have met some wonderful people out there that share the same love for these vintage trailers.

Thanks again!
Shan & Ellen

Wow, 2 'clouds. Good for you. We agree, they are a good size for 2 people, tow well, and are fun to own.
