Bigger bed?

Love the rear bed in my 55 but it is not overly spacious.
I have decided to have the new mattress made 9 inches longer (full trailer width) by covering the small storage cabinet that currently cuts the end off the bed. Anyone else done this? Best option I think is to reduce cabinet height by 6 inches (mattress depth) and reinstall the hinged cover.
