It looks pretty complete, except lacking propane tanks. If you can get somebody from the Georgia unit out there to help you inspect it, it might save you a lot of time and mistakes. Get a new set of tires for it soon. Old tires frequently blow out causing major damage. Particularly relevant on two wheel trailer.

Quite a find indeed. I rescued a 1954 Safari from a hunt club back in December. Mine hadn't fared as well as yours. I see that the air conditioner has been installed backwards. Better remedy that before the condenser is damaged. Very lucky for you that the rear air conditioner install did not remove the rear glass or frame. That would prove difficult to find. Best of luck in your restoration.

more on lost soul

ok, here ya go! The FC had sat under 30 ft oak ttrees for 20 yrs, the toliet had ben hard piped into a 5 gl underground drum-we had to cut it off. It took 1 1/2 hrs to get the original hitch to move. Once hooked to our p/u we moved it 500 ft to the location you saw in the earlier photos.
The tires were buried in the sand 6 inches, and when we moved it, it left tire rubber in the bottom of the holes! Once moved we bug bombed & jacked it to remove tires, wheels & to check bearings. During this time thousands of roaches decended down the axles & onto my arms & then died around me, yuck!! The people we bought it from took 3 hrs to clean their stuff from 20 yrs of going hunting in it every weekend. At least 15 cast iron frying pans which they would not part with, one for almost each yr they had been at the camp. Changed out wheel/tires, bearing & races, hooked it up & brought it (carefuly) back 2 hrs to Atlanta where it resides at my moms house. My wife forbid me from working on it until I rented/sold my house. Don't know of a plan yet but couldn't resistbuffing on it a little bit. I have also started stripping some of the paint off cabinets just to see that birch WOW! Hope you enjoy the new pics and will give updates as soon as more progress is made. Thanks for the invite to Springstream and we will try our best to drag it up to beautiful Lake Chatuge!Dry camping or not! P.S. NO MORE BUGS!!!!

Rivet Congratulations!

That’s really quite a find! Really good condition. I don’t think I have ever seen and air conditioner mounted in that orientation. The fragile fins are forward where anything airborne could damage them and the boat-shaped “bow” of the cover is to the rear.

the ac is now removed and nothing blew off even at seventy mph on the way home the only thing i can figure is they put the ac on at the camp and it never moved until we moved it ps there must have been 10 gallons of NASTY water in it so lets see ? 8 lbs per gallon ,10 gals plus the weight of the unit . twhen they installed it they sealed the drain line so it had to overflow out the top!!!

That is a really sweet find.(the trailer, not the roaches)
Something about old aluminum just makes me feel all warm and happy.
Best of luck to you, Rich
