If anyone wants me to go take a look, let me know. It's on my way home from work (and would give me a good reason to leave work early!) I can't buy it - out of room and $$!
I'm thinking I may have to be "sick" and home from work tomorrow. Gotta talk to the wife when she gets home from work. I could use a new project - and since I'm heading down that way hopefully the 11th or 12th to look at a Mustang this would be a good recon trip....Barry
GT, There was a '56 Overlander for sale....in mastic/shirley. Did you see it? You could get it for $1500, I'd bet. The body is in nice shape...interior not bad, all things considered...
But a reason to go to Seattle is always good, too.
I haven't seen it? Do you have a T# or a street? My lot is officially full (I'm already getting that look) but it's worth taking a look at regardless. Let me know where -- thanks!

GT,It was on William Floyd Pkwy, across the street from Carvel and about 2 houses north. The guy was asking $2500, but as I was leaving without the trailer (I have enough projects), he said "you can have it for $2000!" I looked through some old Suffolk Life papers and saw that he had picked it up for $1000.So, if he still has it, he'll probably just be happy to know he made something on it. I can give more details about the condition, if you don't want to see it for yourself.......

So I guess I go by there 100 times a month and have never even seen this?! Guess I'll have to drive with glasses on from now on -- damn! I'll look for it in the morning. There's no way I'm taking it, but I'll take a look just the same. Thanks Chuck!

HI...I'm new here.
I do live near Seattle, and when this little beauty came up on Criags List I immediatley emailed....over and over and over! Never got a response, so I'm thinkn' it sold fast. Oh well, the search continues!!
It brought a smile to my face to see my new trailer on the forums here. My name is Aaron and I am the new owner of the 55' Flying Cloud you saw on the Seattle/Craigslist. I have been looking at Airstreams in the Seattle area on and off for about 2 years now and although this trailer needs a lot of work, I couldn't stop thinking about it once I looked at i, so I bought it. Im planning on starting my restoration in the next month or two and I am learning SO SO much from the forums here. I have a lot more to read and plan but I looking forward to giving my Flying Cloud a proper restore. Thanks to everyone for all their contributions and Ill hopefully see you around at some events in the future!
Congrats on your acquisition. I'd thought of zipping down to see it when it was for sale but "someone" had snapped it up before I could arrange to get away. Not that I need it, two in the yard is enough for now with all the other needful things I have about the place. Look forward to seeing pictures of it at start and then as you progress. There's a Tin Can Tourists campout at Deming, WA the third weekend in August you might want to consider. If you want the contact info let me know and I'll pass it on. The folks who host it are great people and live in the Seattle area. The weekend campout would be a great place to meet people with similar interests, get ideas on what to do, and heck, bring it out and use it even if it's not done.
Barry

I was looking at that post shortly after we purchased our 55 flying cloud in November. It's fun too see others. Ours was listed on this forum in the classifieds and we happened to notice the posting about 10 mins after it was listed. It was listed as a 57 airstream 26 footer. As soon as the pics went up I thought I knew what it was. The sellers were overwhelmed with interest once the pics went up and decided to sell it for best offer instead of their original low asking price. I thanked them for the emails and backed off. They decided to go ahead and sell it too us as it wasn't so much about the money to them. They had had it a long time and wanted it to go to a good home. I had let them know a little bit about us and why we wanted it in emails and they decided to sell it to us for the original asking price. Didn't take any chances though...paypaled a deposit and headed up there right away.
Ours needs a lot of work too. I think we are very lucky to own such an important and eventually fun to use piece of history! Looking forward to seeing pics of yours. I will try to post some pics of ours this week.
