1954 Flying Cloud-My latest aquisition

A couple of months ago my wife saw this on craigslist. It was only about 90 miles from the house so I drove down to take a look at it. When I got there and saw it, I was like, Holy Cow!!!, it's a whale tail and in good shape to boot. Once I looked inside it was like stepping back into 1954!
The interior was in great shape. I took some pictures and headed home. When I got home and showed the pictures to my wife, she says "We've got to have that" I made a deal with the owner and it was ours. Some pictures follow and if anyone can tell me what is up with where the shower is, I am all ears. We will be starting on this soon. Not going to do a rebuild just yet. More like a thorough check out, some new cushions and covers, curtains and flooring. Then a polish job to finish it off.

Nice find - but that shower is odd. I doubt it is original...is there a pan or something on the floor?

You can peruse the archives for what a normal shower set-up is here.

There was no pan on the floor, just carpet. The water lines were sweated into the original lines that looks completely original. After checking everything out, all of the electric worked(it's all 110v) and there were no water leaks. Even the old original 110v water heater worked with water that would scald you! Haven't ckd propane or stove yet.

That's not a cinder block. That's Bruce's head sticking out the vent .

Progress

On Saturday we loaded up and pulled the 'Cloud to Johnson City, TX for polishing at Sean's shop. http://vintagetravelersairstreamrestoration.com/ While Sean is polishing my trailer, my wife and a friend of ours-ScreamStream here on the forums are busily concocting a color scheme worthy of this awesome trailer. I won't pick the trailer up until Sept, but by then everything should be ready to put together.

Here is a picture of us hooked up and ready to go.

So it has been awhile since I have made any progress on the "Cloud" Vacation, work, etc. This past weekend, I went to Scorpiontimo's shop and worked on putting a new hitch coupler. I cut the old one off and then installed the new one with a new tongue jack. Wire brushed the frame and repainted. Looks nice. I also took out the front windo so I could get new glass installed. Sean will start polishing this week.
When Sean is done I will take the trailer home and install the laminate flooring newly upholstered cushions(done by my wife) and tail lights and paint rear bumper.

As far as the shower goes, all I can say is, "WTF"? They must have used a 3x3 ft tub to stand in and then poured it down the sink when finished? Necessity IS the mother of invention but I'd have to be really stinky with no other options to go to the trouble. I think I've seen everything now. Nice trailer. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Is that a shower curtain track on the ceiling?
