Wood end caps---overlander

We are in the process of replacing the end caps with wood on our overlander. Any tips would be so much appreciated!

It sounds like it will look great.

But if you get a leak, you'll have to double back, and do it again. AND trying to match your previous wood color and patina might be a PITA.

If you have no idea on how or where to start, don't do it.......and I'm a cabinetmaker.

Trying to explain compound curves, expansion, contraction allowances to a lay person would be like trying to explain Quattum Physics to me. It one of those things that can be very difficult, if not impossible to explain.

If you can wrap a balloon with wood, you are good to go.

Cheers
Tony

Wood end caps---overlander

I take the other approach, just do it and learn as you go.

That is what I did.

Now, not to say that I won't do it different when I do it again, but I am satisfied with my results.

For me the biggest part of understanding the whole process is accepting that the wood will only bend on one plain.

I used 16 gauge sheet metal to join the panels together and then used stringers to cover the seams. I used 9 panels.
