I am a new owner of a 1975 international and have started some rehab.
One of the things I have been working on is stripping the vinyl off the interior aluminum skin. The vinyl it self comes off pretty easy with some stripper but I am having trouble with the leftover adhesive .
There are several threads on this topic, search for terms like "vinyl, "strip," interior skins," and "polish" and combinations of the above.
For the labor involved in removing the vinyl, adhesive, and then shining the aluminum up, you might come out ahead by replacing the skins with fresh sheets. I just bought a stack of 5052 for about $60 per 4x12 sheet.
Sure! Busy stripping the adhesive off the sub floor right now but I will be working on the walls next. The premium kleen strip does work but it takes two coats and seems like it's going to be a serious job.
I'm in the process of stripping the vinyl of the shower wall. I would like to seal the bare aluminum so that repeated cleaning does scratch it. Any ideas?
Thanks
