I need more space to attach those stupid souvenir magnets to.

I want to put up a backsplash on the wall behind the stove. Stainless would be great, but it's hard to find magnetic stainless. I've also thought about cutting out a panel from a junk washing machine or fridge. Any suggestions?

Ya know, being a magnet lover myself, I had the same problem.

We used double stick tape to put up one of those magnetic boards (black) that you find in school supplies areas of stores. It is very lightweight, about 14" square, perhaps, is now home to magnets.

We have a window over our sink. Put this on the bathroom door. Perfect.

How about painting something flexible (contact paper??) with magnetic paint? It comes in all kinds of colors. You could stick the contact paper to the wall behind the stove. It would follow the curve. It's removable if you tire of it. Doesn't require any screws or rivets. I'm a big fan of changes that can be undone.

Just a thought.

I have used the magnetic paint before and I do not think you would get good result painting it on contact paper. The paint has iron flakes in it and it is actually pretty heavy. You could paint in on 1/4" mdf and that could slightly bent or you could paint it directly on the wall. I recommend doing several coats (at least 4) and open the can at the store before they shake it. I bought a can that had been sitting for a while and all the iron flakes settled to the bottom and even shaking did not remix it. You need to stir it up first to break up the clumps and then have them shake it. One warning, this is not a strong magnetic surface and the magnets may fall off during travel.

I think a better soultion would be to buy sheets of magnet with an adhesive backing. I think they come on 4"x12" sheets. Just stick them to the wall the way you wold lay a hardwood floor, staggering the joints. I think that wold look nice. The only issue would be to make sure your magnets would stick on the the magnetic strip.
