Interior fabric removal

My husband and I are looking at a 2005 19ft airstream with the interior covered in a soft white "fabric". Has anyone removed the fabric and if so, what was underneath? What did you do with the interior after removal?

I think you're talking about the "mouse fur", as it's termed here on the forum. Our 2006 has it and we like it, especially on cold nights when you roll against the wall. There's no cold shock surprise It also makes it quieter on the inside, absorbing some of the sound from the outside.

I've never removed it but they took a section off at the AS service center to replace some flooring for me. I didn't get to see it off or replaced but I'm pretty sure the interior aluminum skin is under it. They cleaned it with a bleach mixture, I've used a Bissell spot lifter to clean the rest of mine.

Thank you. The one we are looking to purchase has an off white "mouse fur" which is very dirty. The dealer says it it is the glue coming through.

Mouse fur

I have 2004 with the wall fabric and had to remove a section for a repair. There is a thin aluminum skin but they don't do a super neat job at the factory due to the fact they know they are going to cover it up. When its the glue coming through it looks dark not yellow. I have a small spot of that. I would think the yellow color could be from a smoker or other fumes cooking maybe.
It would be a big job to remove and then replace the skin it would not look right just removing the fur and cleaning off the glue. You would have to recover the skin with something or replace the skin. The fur may be cleanable with something like a good carpet cleaner solution and rags but don't rub to hard it will damage the fur. Ask to try to clean a small spot where it would not be noticed to see if it could be cleaned up. I have used Bissell tough stain pretreat with good results on some spots. Good camping Rand
