Insulation

When replacing the insulation with new material should I try to get some without the paper vapor barrier or use it with the vapor barrier next to the outside skin?

I would not recommend using the vapor barrier. The aluminum skin will serve that purpose. The concern would be that if for any reason you did get any moisture (a leak around a rivet, window trim, clearance light etc...) in between the skin and the kraft paper it would be trapped there and could potentially cause mold. IF you cannot find any unfaced insulation simply peel the kraft paper away from the fiberglass and discard it.

Try, Johns Manville it is blue fiberglass and comes in sheets or rolls with or with out backing. They carry it at Lowe's.
The best part is they do not use formaldehyde like the pink stuff.

You might also think about using Prodex roll insulation as well.

There are many threads on the subject and just as many opinions as to what insulation is best.

I used a combination of Johns Manville Fiberglass and Prodex with taped panels. We are very comfortable camping in snow and cold as well as Death Valley heat.

You don't want any organics (paper) in a condensation prone structure. I would also argue against fibreglass insulation which holds any moisture that it is exposed to, leading to a deterioration of your already low r-value. I would recommend a rock wool insulation like Roxul. Mineral wool is hydrophobic, so will not retain an water that might come in contact. As for vapour barrier, your aluminum skin is already serving that purpose.

I am using Henry Solar Flex, then prodex, then bonded logic UltraTouch insulation (it's really awesome stuff!!). Their website says the product I'm using is 2", but when I spoke with customer service, she said it's about 1.5" If there is room, I'll put in another layer of prodex.
