I tried replacing the shower pan. Please help.

I started by cutting my belly pan with a dremel and ended up switching to an angle grinder - much faster! Looking for 5 ft width aluminum sheet now to fil the hole when I am done.

Harbor Freight sells an air shear that I used to cut my whole belly pan and wraps. Cost about fourteen bucks, worked like a champ, if you've got a big old air compressor to run it.

Not sure where y'all are buying your aluminum, but I bought mine at ABC Supply (in Gainesville Fl) for about forty bucks per 4x10 sheet. Don't remember all the specifics on it. It was .032 thickness IIRC... a bit thicker than the original, but it formed up very nice for the wraps.

Another vote for the pneumatic nippers, they are like a jig saw for aluminum. Super easy to make tught curves.

I also used the HF shears, they are great for straight cuts but I found to hard to control on any curve.

The combination of pneumatic shears and nippers worked great on my new belly pan.

If you are gonna put these jacks in, make sure you do it before you put everything back together and get a good game plan for the order you do things with the belly pan install. I half planned it and got super lucky, I ended up having to weld a bracket to the frame for it to screw into, which could have been a nightmare.

That looks great ! So. does all that plumbing fit inside the outriggers?
That is exactly almost sorta what I am planning. So I presume that your tanks will tie together with a by-pass for the grey and exit somewhere out the back side of the bumper?
Did you end up getting your tanks at inca?
I'm still at the bellypan removal stage (mostly out , frame looks good,gotta do the POR, then lay it out)

Hey John, yeah all the black pipe is in the curb side rear outriggers. And they will dump out the street side out rigger.
The gray came from some RV store and my fresh and black are from inca. The wheel wells are on their way from inca as well

Marco –I appreciate the info. It Is starting to gel in terms of making this work. I am working with the stock frame depth and want to keep the tanks and plumbing within that space if possible, with the black tank in its original position by the bumper to take advantage of the extra frame doubling. Then I will get a shallow gray to put in the next bay forward or possibly in front of the axle.I will have backflow valves wherever necessary as well as a good flushing out device,and make sure there's enough drop from the tub to that grey tank.

T Marco has a unique approach with drain plumbing within the outriggers. I was following another thread where the folks did an install with the tank drains straight out the back of the trailer. I thought I'd post the link so you could see another approach. There are many ways to skin a Globetrotter!

I'm keeping my dump valves in the original place around the rear street side, they never came out the back and putting them there never crossed my mind. In retrospect, I think it is good that mine are closer to the tire considering how low they hang, and that the back bumper might get pretty close to the ground.

And I finished my belly pan!!!!!
I'm ready to put the shell back on as soon as my wheel wells arrive from inca plastics. They had to do a custom job since my new tires are so wide

I guess i don't know how the early 70s trailers were built. My 66 black tank drained out the back. I'll bet those California Airstream engineers sat there and thought "hey, I'm built to drain out the rear, so why not do it that way with the trailer."

I didn't seal the seams on my belly pan. I decided if rain water gets in there, I want it to drain out. In fact, I drilled 1/4" drain holes in it. Rain water easily enters at the rear bumper storage area as well as other places. Just a thought from a fella who lives in a state where it rains every now and then.

I have the exact black tank in my 66 Safari. Do you have a working slide-o-magic toilet on your Tradewind? My tank's shot, but Thetford works fine. I haven't pulled it out, and wonder if I need to. The flange is rusted out, wondering if anyone has figured a slip connector to tie into my new tank.
