Heat Stripping Zolatone?

There have been many threads concerning the stripping of Zolatone and other paint from the interior of the 'Streams, but has anyone ever tried a heat gun? In the stripping of some window frames in my 1926 house I found that a heat gun did a good job on some surfaces that had 53 layers of paint, so I wonder if the same could be used on the Zolatone without melting the rest of the interior.

I tried it but the metal became a giant heat sink and therefore would not peel up like it does on wood...I have just been using a scraper to remove the paint.
