Floating shelf install

I'm thinking of adding a floating shelf above the front window in my 64 Overlander. There isn't a cabinet as the PO removed it and damaged the lip it was attached to. We have added aluminum to the inner end caps. How are they installed? I plan to make it hollow core with a pair of speakers in the bottom.

What do you mean by a floating shelf? What will it "float" on?

I just did what you are about to. Kinda tough because it is a convex curve. I bought C channel from vintage trailer supply to hold the window side of the floating shelf. The other side is held on by two screws on each side. Go to www.bambiairstream.com for pictures.
