Eddie Bauer / painting cabinets / darker color?

I'm currently considering / in a process of buying a new 2016 Airstream Eddie Bauer that has light colored wood cabinets, which I assume is some of type of laminate.

I do not like the color and I would like to have darker color cabinets instead. However, cost of changing all cabinets / panels is pretty high.

Has anybody any experience of painting or otherwise treating the wood panels/laminates so that they would be darker color?

There is no good, durable way of changing the color of the laminate, which would defeat the concept of the Eddie Bauer if you did. The resale value would drop like a rock.

Best to select a model that more closely suits your taste in decor.

Painted laminate looks like, well, painted laminate. Try it on some scrap laminate cabinet you have laying around (or go to Lowes and buy a cheap new one for your test.) If you are pleased with the results go ahead with your project but be prepared to take a HUGE hit on the resale value of your trailer (I'm guessing 25% minimum right off the bat plus the normal depreciation.)

Just repainted laminate table . I used 80 grit sandpaper, don't rub hard, just enough to create a rough surface, clean area, use combo paint primer spray paint , 2 coats ,lightly sand ,final coat. Looks good . Suggest an arbor Bob as a sample. See how you ike, remember, my is for outside use

If you were absolutely set on getting darker cabs, I would have a cab. maker recover them with darker laminate. However, it is my understanding that you can custom order an Airstream with different color laminate if you are willing to- a) pay and b) wait.
