Carpet dye?

I'm dealing with an RV that has carpet with NO wear.
But it's faded in splotches. At first I thought it got wet, but it never did. Nor was it exposed to sunlight for a time. It's a medium green, but faded to tan in small areas.
I'm convinced, due to lack of other reasons, that the glue used has bleached out the carpet.
Has anyone attempted to dye a carpet? Rit makes a fabric dye which looks pretty close, and I'm tempted to try a sponge on the faded parts.
My rule of thumb when attempting repairs is, "Don't make it worse" so I'd feel better with some guidance.
Anyone had success?

Replacing it is not an option.

I used Kool-Aid to dye some sunfading on my carpet. My carpet is green. I mixed a little Lime flavor powder with water until I the right shade. I sprayed it on with a pump bottle.
