Cabinet doors falling off

We are having a problem with cabinet doors falling off (Mainly the bedside wardrobe doors and the cabinet doors under the bed). A common problem is when pulling a large item out, the top of the hinge is hit, and the hinge separates, leaving the cabinet door to drop off.
I understand that there are "covers" made for the hinges to prevent accidental opening. Does anyone know the source?

Some of mine still have the little black plastic covers. Most don't. As far as repairing screw holes there are several options. Easist is to plug the hole with a wooden toopick, a dab of super glue and reattach screw.

Welcome to AirForums by the way, sounds like you are new!

Are you talking about "popping" the hinge separation/release trigger at the end of the hinge assembly? Sounds like that is what you are describing, and that happens all the time to us with the totes coming out from under the twin beds in our 27fb.

It's very annoying, especially to my wife. There was a thread on here a few weeks ago with links to some sort of security cover for that hinge; maybe someone will find it for us. Let's hope so because I wanted to order some too!

A quick search of cabinet hinges indicates you might have what's called a "european hinge". They're handy because they can be installed and adjusted with all kinds of frames and allow a door to be flush with the floor and still open down.
There are two parts and have a "Release Tab" that sticks out of the back. So anything that bumps this can release the two parts.
I didn't see a cover but it seems like you could simply put a small screw into the cabinet behind the tab that stops boxes from banging into the tab. Or a small angle piece that does the same.

I have them and they are a pita. When they unlock the hinge it's difficult to re engage the hinge halves and lock them again.

If I left every screw loose to fall out in the last nine years,my crappy-built interior would be a pile in the middle of my floor.Cabinets mostly were Krebs-type fastened together,but hastily sheetmetal screwed sloppily into aluminum sheeting,with little concern for structural integrity.IF airplanes were built like Airstreams,they wouldn't be allowed to fly.

Great idea and much cheaper...I have a bag of those in my shop so problem solved.

Yes, the two piece hidden hinge is a pain to get back together once separated. Trick is to use the adjusting screw to remove tension on the arm and it will go back together easily...then after snapping halves back together use adjusting screw to adjust hinge again so door hangs correctly.

Blum hinges are highly regarded and should be a direct replacement for what's in the airstream.

These type of hinges are commonly called "Euro" style or "32mm" system.

The big benefit to this type of hinge is that it is adjustable, so you can adjust the tilt of the door, how tight it closes, etc. all with some screws on the hinge. Saves a lot of labor when fitting the doors and makes it easier to address warping etc. down the road.

I resolved the problem by grinding the release tab down about half way. I can still release the hinge but it doesn't happen by accident.....Hobo

While on the cabinet door issue, does anyone know how to stop the spring squeak on the overhead cabinet doors?

Got the clips in today and installed them. Very easy to clip into place. Don't think I'll have that problem again.
