Getting ready to embark on a big trip this coming fall. My friend and I have a great set up. I share in her house and we use my Airstream for vacations. Best of both worlds at half the cost. A great co-sharing scenario in retirement.
I don’t have a big trailer and two berths is a must so we don’t end up killing each other due to lack of sleep
I have a slide out couch that replaced the original dinette and the front tiny double bed - both super comfortable.
After two months in Nfld we have decided that making a bed and rolling it up is a royal pain in the back!!!
So I was thinking of building a bunk over the front bedroom. Get a custom aluminum frame made to fit an ikea single bed frame that would fit in that space.
Of course we would draw straws on who goes up top
I’m more nimble so I’m sure it will be my space.
So what do you think? I want it removable and the weight must be transfered to the floor rather than the conventional wall mount systems.
Think it is doable? Anyone made this kind of modification?
Have the 22’ CCD front bedroom model. She has a huge GVWR allowance of 1000 lbs so weight is not a worry for me.
