Bed modification

Storage under our front bed is very difficult to access, so I did this:
Put in a piano hinge where the underlaying plywood is cut & added 2 lifters (medium). Easier access & when raised, allows airflow to reduce moister build-up.

Hi. Your project interested me as I have a plan to modify the FB in my Safari 20 to make a kind of gaucho: convertible bed to sofa. The piano hinge is clear, but would like more info on the 2 lifters: where did you get them? do they hold the top open, or just assist?

lifters

I got them at Camping World and they do hold the mattress up. I have to lean on it with my elbows to get it down (be careful not to let it slam). Let me know how it works out.
