Argosy bathroom wall question

Hi, we have resumed work on our 76 Argosy. I noticed today that the skins in the bathroom are overlapped differently than the rest of the interior. The wall panel on the top goes BEHIND the middle panel. The middle panel also goes BEHIND the lowest panel. This seemed backwards to me, to have it that way in the shower. Any logical reason this was done? I would think you want the water to shed down & over the lower panel to eliminate water going behind. When we re-install is there any reason we could not put then back in with the upper overlapping the middle instead of runnning it behind? The only place it looks like it could be an issue would be at the rear window. Am I missing something obvious?

I think they did it that ways so you would not know that the outer skin was leaking.
