Airstream Name ??

1965 "Airstream International Land Yacth Overlander" is what is on the right of the entry door; can anyone help me find a manual that I can download as we are trying to find one. Actually, unable to find much of anything using that name. Wanting to start restoration this summer; but without the information makes it hard. Thank you for your help.

Airstream did not produce service manuals until the early 70's.

Airstream Name ??

You have a typo you've used twice - try "Yacht" instead of "Yacth".

I found this blog you may find helpful. Good luck - pics are really welcome here 😀

Off topic, but unusual enough to merit comment—

Even though you have posted three times in this thread alone, your post count is still "1" on all three posts. How did that happen? The Forums must be experiencing a glitch.

Welcome to the forums, and to the world of Airstream ownership and restoration!

What you probably have is an Airstream Overlander. That's the model name. Overlanders were quite popular.

The words "International" and "Land Yacht" referred to trim level and equipment upgrades. "International" models had features that non-International versions did not. The highest level was "Land Yacht".

A puzzling fact is that both labels are present on your trailer. Most trailers were labeled "International" or "Land Yacht" but I don't recall seeing too many with both names. But Airstream used all kinds of combinations through the years.

As mentioned earlier, Airstream did not provide owners manuals or service manuals until some time in the 70s.

But there is a ton of information out there on the Internet. A good place to start would be the Vintage Airstream Photo Archives, http://vintageairstream.com/photo-archives/ .

There is a section specific to Overlanders here on Airforums, http://www.airforums.com/forums/f22/

Finally, I invite you to join the Vintage Airstream Club (VAC) a division of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International (WBCCI). http://vintageairstreamclub.com/

Through WBCCI and VAC you can meet and correspond with hundreds of like-minded individuals, and you can see their trailers and compare notes at rallies.

Best of luck with your trailer!

Alice, we were all new at one time, and we've all had problems learning the software ropes.

You're fine, no problem! Good luck on getting the info you need.

That must have been the way they badged them in 1965. Here's a picture from the Vintage Airstream Photo Archives.

We have a '72 International Land Yacht Soverign. I've been wondering what to actually call our 'stream, too! Thanks for the info!

Owner's manuals for most of the models can be found on the Airstream website dating back to 1964. Searching briefly, I found the Owner's manuals for a 1964 and 1966 Overlander, but not a 1965.

trailer name

Alice Knox,

Your trailer is simply a Make: Airstream Model: Overlander, The plate also identifies that your trailer has the trim level: International Landyacht, that identifies that it has specific exterior and interior trims and wood/color/fabrics packages that were not on the basic trailer package. Airstream DID give new customers Owners Manuals in both '66 and '67 models years as I have one for my '67 Safari and have seen the '66 model year one too! The prior year owners had a package that had owners manual, and warranty/operators manuals for appliances and optional equipment. You should go to Airstream.com and click on the link for manuals for your model and year to see what is available for download or purchase from Airstream. Hope this helps! Ed

P.S. The embossed number set on the plate to the right of your main cabin door Should start with the letter "I" that indicates your International Trim package status. The other letters and numbers in that V.I.N. sequence spell out what is your original build package. An S or J indicate what factory your trailer was built in. There is a conversion table on VintageAirstream.com that will help you to completely understand those numbers.

Airstream

Thank you all so much as through your replies I have a better understanding. When purchased, we did receive the owners manual, etc. Again; much appreciated 😊
