'67 Caravel Side Couch/Bed wooden table slides

I need to replace the three wooden "Walter of Wabash" wooden table slides that extend and support the side couch/bed (I hesitate to use the term "gaucho") in our 1967 Caravel. Has anyone had success finding a suitable substitute? Can I make these myself with a router and dovetail bit?

I had success making these. You need a very hard wood for it to work though. I used exactly the method you mention in your post and found a bit that matched the original slides. I was able to reuse the small wooden dove tail inserts along which the slides slide.
I have also tried the ones from Vintage Trailer and they worked too. The only drawback to them was that their method of doweling involved a single long dowel rather than the multiple smaller ones used by the originals. This means that your gaucho will loose an inch or so in its extension ability.
