1980 Caravelle 20'

HI!

We are new here and we just purchased a 1980 Caravelle 20'! First of all, we need a service and owners manual and we are finding it extremely hard to find one on this particular model.

We also have several questions on the best mode of action to take when we go to 'renovate' or 'repurpose' some of the items in the stream. We want to keep with the era of the Caravelle but we are also feeling that the 1980's was the year they went cheap with all of the vinyl and plastic so we are torn!

Any direction or information/advice on where to find a manual and how to keep the Caravelle's value for this rare model would be appreciated. Thanks much.

You can get a service manual through air stream they are a little pricey. Are not kept in stock they are printed as ordered from a suppler. Will have to ask around for an owners manual I was lucky enough that some one here copied one for me. You will find that there is not a lot of info out on you model and not a lot of them around. They were only produced in 1980 and limited numbers.

Thanks for your reply! So the service manual we'd want to get is the one for 1980 and that applies to all models from that year? I couldn't find one especially for the Caravelle on the airstream website.

I found some mention of Helen Davis Secretarial Services for photocopies of old owners manual, but all the posts were from over 10 years ago so we may have to contact her to see if she is still offering that service.

Our Caravelle is in quite good condition, a few minor dents on the outer shell, some small repairs needed on the belly pan and the interior seems quite original, but we want to begin the process of restoring it so it still feels 35 years old, but doesn't smell it. lol.
