1978 31' sovereign mid bath tank location?

I'm gutting a 31' sovereign and I'm moving the bathroom to the middle. I cannot find anything online about where the mid-bath water tanks are located and how they are plumbed. If anyone has pictures they could share with me that would be greatly appreciated.

Also, where my tanks are currently located (in the back) the cavity they sit in is built a few inches below the frame then there was a big piece of foam they sat on. When I move them to the middle of the trailer, do I need to build a deep captivity for them to rest in?

Thanks,
Ryan

The rear tank is 27 gal black. The center is a 27 gal gray and the front is a 27 gal gray. All of them sit below the floor and stick past the frame rails a few inches. The black tank is just behind the rear axle. One gray in the center and one gray forward the front axle. The idea was to keep everything balanced around the axles. Hope this helps.

Thanks Matt. I'm hoping someone will post a picture of the 78 sovereign mid bath so I can match up my tanks. Is most of your plumbing going under the trailer?

Yep. I wanted my toilet flush on the floor. All plumbing lines(hot and cold) will be above deck. If you look close in the pic I've already plumbed the drain lines out of the tanks.
Google "airstream center-bath plumbing" it may pull something up. Placement of tanks should be straight forward. Black under the toilet. Grey should be close to shower/sink around the axles. Most have a black tank above deck and the grey between the rails.
Someone on here probably has what you want to see.

Matt - would it be possible to get measurements between the tanks? I'm shell offing my 27' overland and moving to mid bath. I'm trying to guess as to locations so as to minimize and towing issues.

Also, did you buy new tanks and if so can you share cost and source?

Thanks,

Brek

It's raining cats and dogs so can't get measurements right now. I'll measure them this weekend for you. I placed them where I needed them around the axles to accommodate the shower and toilet.
I ordered mine from ppl. They have good prices and are online so your can browse what they have. I paid less than 200 a tank. I custom fit everything and was not worried about them sticking below the rails but I am still placing belly pan just had to make some new mounts just for the belly pan which I have not installed yet. I'll take some pics. Some would not like what I did but I'm happy with it. They do make tanks that sit no lower than the rails. I just wanted more tanks volume.

78 center bath drainage

Ryan,

Not sure if you have seen this picture or not but its from a 78 manual. It doesn't include dimensions but at least you can see how it was plumbed. Hope this helps.
