1974 Argosy 24' motorhome

Well, I purchased a Airstream motorhome and found out after getting it trailered to my house its brakes were bad, it had a lot of rust, its interior was not what it was advertised to be, and the guy has yet to send me the title. It runs pretty good though. Any one ever restore a MH? Is it worth it to do so?

conflicted

If you go look on the Argosy motorhome section you will get a better idea of what has been done, and what could be done, but all of those threads will show a $10-15k investment to get it back on the road after which the sky is the limit......literally.

Welcome to the forum, Festa!

FYI:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f310/

It is a big "plus" that the Argosy runs!

I would get the title squared away before you do anything IMO.

Good luck!

Project update?

I just bought a 74 Argosy motorhome and am asking myself the same questions. If you still check this thread could you give an update? Problems? Successes? Issues found and solved? Any experience you can give would be great!!

Anyone else with theses issues, please jump in.

If you go look on the Argosy motorhome forum, you will find several threads with more than 500 posts/100,000 views and see for yourself the issues folks have encountered.

Or you can look at a 3 year old thread, posted in an irrelevant section, that got almost no replies (probably because it was posted in an irrelevant location).

The forum is so large, the majority of people only go directly to the sections of interest (not trawl through the massive range of posts on the portal front page).

The forum is a repository of near 20 years of individual information shares, many of the posters are no longer active and in several cases no longer with us. Treat it as a library and go search - the information is out there for you to find.

My bad.....

But of the OPs 8 posts, all about, but none posted in, the Argosy motorhome section, most of which bought about suggestions to go look/post in the motorhome section, my reply was meant to be constructive.

My experience of the forum is simple, it is not like many forum where you post questions/get replies; it is a historical record of the last 20 years of folks experience asking the same question/getting replies. Even 20 years ago these were 20plus year old units so the problems/challenges have not changed. In the motorhome sections most folks post a single thread that forms a common theme to their renovations/projects and hopefully later use, not a bunch of random 'todays problem is' or 'what is the best coffee maker' type posts.

As I say, just trying to be helpful and let the OP get the best response to their need.
