Just Bought #1204

I have always wanted an Airstream and was lucky to find #1204 from a seller in California. It arrived last week here in Durham, North Carolina.

It was towed behind a truck so I know it is road worthy. The interior has been restored but still has all original appliances, cabinets, etc.

Now for some tender loving care.

Anyone have resources for finding parts? Need some air vent cranks, replacement rivets and tools, etc.

Welcome to the forum. As you dig into your new past-time (that may become a passion) you'll likely have some questions. We've found the folks here are extremely helpful. Whatever you're looking for or whatever you're trying to figure out, someone here has been there before and will share their lessons. Many of the lessons are good and worth repeating, but even the experiences that went bad will help you avoid some pitfalls.

You'll also find that parts, like air vent cranks, can be vintage specific. A/S changed designs and used different suppliers through the years. It'll help folks if you include photos and the year (even model) of your trailer.

I think number 1204 would be a 1948 liner not a 1947 but still a very desirable trailer congratulations on the purchase.
Here is info on 1948 liners note they start in the 1100 serial number range and go up to the 1200s.

What an antique Airstream you have. I see depictions of folks pulling them with bicycles! It will be a big hit at Airstream shows and rallies.

SSB on these Forums is currently restoring a Liner, maybe rebuilding it is a better description. You would enjoy reading and following his thread.

Here is a photo of the Liner like trailer that Jackson Center has proudly displayed in the front of the factory.

It will be fun to follow your adventures with this classic Airstream.

I actually started doing research and came to the same conclusion about it being a 1948. The title even has 1947 on it but the plague told me otherwise!

Wow, from a "wanna-be" to a hard core 1947... Fantastic! Welcome! I hope we see this bit of history on the trail some day. Never having done an AS rally the earliest I've seen camping was a late 50's.

Congradulation on your purchase. From my experienece so far, i can tell you it is not easy to find any original parts. VTS has been so far my best source for aftermarket and ebay for original.. but you pay for it.
Post some more pictures of your Liner :-) How is the frame on yours? mine was gonne.. David already posted a link above to y adventure :-) thanks
