1948 Airstream

I need to find out what they called this model of trailer.
My grandfather bought it new in 48 and I want to restore it
it was in his barn in Iowa for all this time.
If any one can tell me about this year I can send pics.

There were several different models made in 1948, varying in length from 16' - 28' long. You may want to check out VintageAirstreams.com to help identify which you have.

Be sure to drop the Vintage Airstream Club Historian, Fred Coldwell (aka 47WeeWind on the forum) a line...he is the proud owner of a 1947 WeeWind in original condition...it's beautiful! He would be able to shed lots of light on yours....

You'll find lots of info here to help you with your restoration...Good Luck! Post pictures when you can...love to see them!

Thanks to Shari I see that I own a 1948 chinook.
My father is looking to buy a 2003 airstream about 22".
If i give him mine for a trad I can use his new one.
Do I hold on to the memorys or do I sell out?

Are you thinking of trading this vintage trailer in to the dealer on a new 22' Airstream?

DON"T DO IT!!!!

You will never get the money it's worth from a dealer! Vintage Airstream Club (VAC) members are always very interested in these old pipe frame trailers...

If you don't feel you are up for restoring it & caring for it, please sell it to someone who will take care of this rare vintage beauty!

Two things:

1. Check out this Price vs Condition information
2. If you decide to sell it to a private party, you may want to list it in the VAC Classifieds where someone would pay top dollar for it, especially if it is in good original condition.
