It is pretty though. The ones I drag home look much worse than that!

Hornets

Something I have never encountered before.....hornets. I saw a few as I tried to get the Airstream peeped for travel home and I used my recovery kit bug spray on them. I thought I had the problem solved. Nope. A few showed up over the past week, however, as I tried to remove the belly pan for A frame replacement...HORNET all over. Work stopped now for past two days.

progress this week.

Thanks to Bruce Wood....I semi followed his guidance and replaced the A Frame. It needed to be extended for function....ability to fit a load control hitch and give some turning comfort zone ability.

Today the value went DOWN

As I have tried to say many time....the minute you start the deconstruct of that "excellent condition" Airstream you got from Ebay or Craigslist, the value goes straight DOWN. You have also started down a very long and EXPENSIVE road. I have done this before. but it still bothers me.

Don't do this

When you rebuild your Airstream interior....don't do it this way. I found this as I deconstructed the bed area. 2 x 4 lumber is good for barn building...not Airstreams.

today, more inside

Having trouble removing the floor cabinet mount screws...the big ones. I guess slow but sure approach might work. The sink Galley cabinet base is also going hard and slow.....something is holding it in place. The bedroom are is now out. I can see the floor problem areas which will need replacing. The original Zolatone is visible now that the cabinets are removed.

axle swap

The belly pan has been cut out for replacement and floor inspection. The old sprung axles have been cut off and 1/4 inch angle welded to the frame the entire length go the wheel wells. Dexter 3500 lb tortion axles mounted to the reinforced angle/frame sections.

Yep! After talking with Dexter and a trailer manufacturer I went this way. They even have directions and sell angle mounts...like the 1/4 in angle I used, made for the welding installation. Where the supports are in the photos I have left original sections of the axle mount/frame reinforcements and will have them extend thru the pan for use as jack points.
