This is the coolest find in the trailer. I assume it's original, because the laminate on the top matches the countertops! How cool! And it's in really good condition, to boot! I'll have to bring that with us when we camp. It should fit nicely under the 20 foot awning outside (when I get to that part).

Jordan,
Thanks, I am building a dinette in the front so I put a 6 gallon water heater in front of the stove, under part of the dinette. That will, hopefully, give me a kitchen cabinet which is useful.

Layout
Spent some time this afternoon sketching and dreaming!
I had a few prerequisites.... permanent beds for us and the 2 kids, and a big eating area we wouldn't have to convert every night into a bed.
I'd also like to keep the wet bath on the side, and keep all the plumbing in the same general area it is now. I love the genius thinking having all the plumbing lines within 48 inches. Very convenient! Much more so than any of the other ones I have. less leaks, less lines to run. awesome.
I'm thinking about a closet air for this one, too. I just can't bring myself to put a roof-top AC on anything older than 1960...

It's a very nice trailer. I'm sure you will do it justice as you have your others.
BTW what happened to your Globetrotter? Did you abandon it, or have you sold?

You've already done one floor-mounted A/C, consider it the pilot run and you can perfect it on the Liner.
I like the layout, and I'm wondering what (if anything) you have sacrificed on the curbside to put in the narrow twin bunk beds?
-Marcus
P.S. Oh, and I also see lots of curved corners, which will look fantastic. Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have about building those...

You know if you were to switch the wet bath and wardrobe you would have the plumbing even closer together and the bathroom more accessable to company without them walking through the "private" quarters.

Good idea! Storage space is at a premium, since I'm loosing a closet for the twin bunks. Speaking of the bunks, how wide are yours? I was going to go with 32". Any more and the hall gets too thin.
I might start pulling all the rotten cabinets out in a few weeks. At least burn the couch, curtains and mattresses! ha! that should make some interesting colored flames.
Can't wait to start on the restoration, now that I have a barn to do it in! I look back at the pickle posts and wonder how on earth I did it that way, in the rain, with a tarp over it. no more!

I don't mind people passing through. plus, there's a vent on the outside behind the wardrobe for the water heater. Can't move that, and I'm not cutting any new holes in the skin. It's perfect now!

Still got it... undecided what to do. It's kinda at the bottom of it's value, so I might continue to work on it a bit, get the walls back in and maybe paint and finish floor it, at least... use it as a test bed for the liner with color combos, and zolatoning. of course, but if i go that far...
ps. Thanks for the offer, Marcus! I could use some advice!

Man, your layout looks great. Couple of things to seriously ponder ~
- Possibly relocate the speakers to the end of the shell outside the window or above. With the dynamic shape of the interior end cap, the sound just flows throughout the entire trailer.
- Where is your sound system going to be housed? Going to have something with a remote? If so, you'll want line of sight.
- With a trailer of this vintage, you gotta have a propane lamp. Its a must.

Good call on the speakers. I was thinking they'd be hidden from view. I should probably do some tests in the pickle and hear what it sounds like. I want to put the sub under the front of the dinette, since that space is pretty unusable. As for the stereo location, I'm going to use a mac mini with an airport, so I can control it from my iPhone! I should add a couple of plugs outside, so I can put speakers outside and control it the same. That would be sweet!
Propane lamp, huh? Not really my style... (i bet I'm opening a can of worms here...)

Jordan,
Looks like you are moving the stove forward. How will that effect the upper cabinet placement and the existing vent? I know what you mean about cutting holes. I had to cut one for the water heater and went with a Dan Foss compressor fridge to avoid cutting more holes in either the side or roof.

Good catch! I'll keep the stove where it sits now, and add a counter top cabinet next to it. I need to test the stove anyway and make sure I can get it working. It's got a fair number of hips in it. I don't know how you can fix chipped porcelain stoves, or even IF you can?
As for the top cabinets, I plan on making a few more anyway with my metal tools. That should keep me occupied for a few days. I need 2 for the bedroom (they were missing when I got it, though the rivet holes and THANKFULLY the clips that hold the doors up are there. YAAAH!

JP,
The rear cabinets have clips? I need a picture, I have all four cabinets (two in back and two in the kitchen), but I had no idea that there were clips to hold the doors open.
I purchased a stove on Ebay and took it to an antique appliance service center to have it checked out. It had a chip and they did a very good job of matching the turquoise color.

Forgot about the vent, and that it would dictact the location of the water heater. BTW, would you need a vent for an On Demand water heater? Don't believe I've ever seen that addressed.
Anyway, really love the mid-bath layout and the way you've incorportaed the bunkbeds into you design. So much more practical than most options.

Hey Bill,
See the pic below. All the cabinets up top had them. I can't wait to fabricate these! That's going to be sweet! I think I'll end up polishing them to match the end caps as well. Why not? Aluminum upper cabinets are worth showing off a bit, don't you think?

Those clips are Rooster Catches and can be found on Vintage Trailer Supply if you are missing them.
Our 53 has them as well.

JP, I told you the table would be cool. I'm glad you're keeping it.
And I see you have the stovetop exhaust vent occupying one of your galley overhead cabinets. I have the same issue. Are you planning a workaround or leaving it there?
