We thought about buying one ... Love the design. But we upgraded / customized our 2008 instead.

Thanks.
Yours sounds like a good plan, given the price. Wonder how much of a discount Colonial is offering on the 2016 unit linked earlier.
Did you actually see this model at a dealer? Curious if you know anyone else who bought one, or if the dealer mentioned any sales figures.
The standard features, including those pointed out by Patrick in the video, are fairly extensive.

"Land Yacht" Special Edition
I didn't go down to see the unit - but out of the gate they offered something like $20k discount without any negotiation.
In the end the floor plan of our 25SS better suited our needs. Still don't know why airstream don't bring back the 25' six sleeper floor plan it rocks for a small family
That and we had significant investments in solar, AV, etc that we would have to replicate adding additional cost. So we plowed ahead with a second round of renovations instead...

We are very happy with our decision.

It's the same LY they've been selling for a few years now. Nothing "special edition" about it.

I like the darker wood style.
I also liked that full length center overhead lighting. That would be cool to incorporate in shorter sections in the regular trailers. Think I'll incorporate that into my 23' restoration.
15" GYM's; YGTBSM! They could at least go with 16" so when you swap em for michelins you don't have to buy new rims.
Not too keen on that kitchen counter setup either, having to raise and lower covers on the entire workspace countertop area. Not very user friendly.
Again, AS missing the boat. I think they're living under a rock sometimes.

I can see why hardly no one has bought these trailers.
All that dark brown fake wood plastic laminate looks EXACTLY like Bob Newhart's office on his old 70's show...and NOT in a good way.
White VINYL seat cushions? I don't even know where to begin on THAT one...white??!?!! VINYL?!!!!?!?!???? It's 1978!!!
All those dark fake plastic wood and vinyl square wall coverings hiding the kitchen...again, it just SCREAMS 70's basement. BARGAIN basement. Dark fake wood paneling NEVER looked good...even when it WAS in style.
Very claustrophobic...not inviting whatsoever. Who wants to have to BUILD their kitchen to use it???
And what is up with that shower??!?!?!!?? Who thought that a shower made out of fake wood laminate was a good idea??!!?!! How long would THAT last before it starts to peel up? And, how do you clean soap scum out of the fake woodgrain of a dark brown shower wall??!??!!????
I don't know what they were smoking when they came up with THAT monstrosity.
Borders on hideous. And that's being generous.

Thing is, I'm not of fan of the dark wood in general, which is why I have a flying cloud. But there are lots of folks who like that dark wood that is offered in the International. I also have to say that these units do look better than what is shown in the photos!
One of the great things about Airstreams in general is you have options. Dark wood, light wood, white leatherette, red leatherette, black letherette... the list goes on. The point is, people have different tastes and my taste and yours won't always be the same. What you see as ugly, somebody else sees as gorgeous.
I saw an international with the white leatherette and didn't think twice about that unit, it's not me. On the other hand, while not my first choice, we did consider a unit with red leatherette, which surprised me. I would not have from the photos considered red. So sometimes you do have to see these things in person.
I'm also not sure what is making these particular units special editions? Just because not many land yachts were made? Unlike the Pendeltons, they do seem to make a few of these every year, so it's not like there is a limited number of them.

I'm with you on that one ... I don't know why so many RV's in general (including many airstreams) look dated. My wife and I went to a RV show last year and were very disappointed in the total lack of quality products for $100-250,000. Tons of cheap plastics etc.....
need to be careful I hear "leatherette" may be on the endangered species list...LOL

I just bought one! It is absolutely amazing - and the wood is actually real - the finest example of material ever used in an Airstream.

I have been an Airstream owner for over 10 years. Now that I have the new Land Yacht I keep pinching myself every day how amazing this piece of art is! The quality is the simply best reason to own this collectible - Pictures don't justify -
You have to see the Land Yacht in person - I believe there are only 2 left! Only 45 produced in 3 years!

2014 Land Yacht Question
I have a couple of questions regarding LY.
1. Is there difference between 2014 and 2015 Land Yacht?
2. Does 2014 Land Yacht equipped Quietstream?
Thanks in advance!

We have one of the 45...bought it about 8 months (2nd to last one available new)... Our's in the mocha...we love it...but not sure how i feel about laminate wood shower..that's not a good design in my opinion, i need to figure out something to protect the wood from moisture.

We have #23 out of 44. A 2016 LY. I e-mailed Airstream with the VIN # and received an e-mail back informing me that ours was the 23 made. We really love it. As far as the shower wood I have been able to keep it looking like new with Mrs. Meyers gentle shower spray cleaner. Founf a company called Teak4U and had a custom shower mat made. It really adds to the shower. We have the dark wood with white interior. I never had a problem with cleaning the white but obsessed with cleaning it. Our Christmas present to ourselves was having the cushions recovered at Ultimate airstream in a lovely leather like fabric in an off white color called whisper.
Enjoy your L.Y.
I just want more time to spend traveling with the L.Y.

Just got a land yacht. Decking it out and wondering where to put a trash can. Any thoughts?
