Well, we took the dip and picked up our Tommy on Friday and were taking it on it's maiden voyage next weekend for short weekend trip to test everything. We have purchased some additional items such as, Surge protector, better black water discharge hose, inline water filter, leveling blocks, extra hoses for fresh water and black water flush, 50 to 30 amp converter plug, gloves for working the black water, and a small step ladder.

Of course this doesn't include the numerous items the wife is buying for the inside to make it ours....I'm sure there are a lot of other items we haven't thought of, but hey, that's what makes it an adventure...Right??? LOL

Make sure you hand tighten those awning retainers before driving.

If you plan to camp without electricity (National Park style) invest in some solar Luci lights - we love ours, use them indoors and out - indoors to spare the house batteries, which are the weak link in Airstreams. The Lucis are inexpensive and versatile.

Lots of 'bottle openers' in the Tommy already - every chair has one and another one on the front of the cooler - so no need to fuss with that requirement.

You will probably want to check out "YouTube" for tips on setting up the Dometic thermostat before you leave. I have over 40 years of high-tech experience and only 'got it' regarding the Dometic setup by watching the videos on "YT". Note whether the T-O-D is set to AM or PM (it makes a major difference when the A/C blasts in the middle of the night - don't ask me how I know this!). Make sure you take all the AS info with you.

Very cool but think I'll stay with my present Bambi.

Welcome aboard!

A couple of suggestions. You know all those handy little fixit items you are glad you have around the house? Well, you need some in the AS as well. So, purchase a small soft-sided tool carrier, and fill it with some simple items; medium size flat and phillips screwdrivers, medium adjustable wrench, small hammer, WD40 or silicone spray, small flashlight, a set of replacement fuses, duck tape, tire gauge, inexpensive volt meter, spare batteries for remotes and such, you get the idea; think about what you don't want to have run to get at Home Depot! I would suggest you also consider purchasing a torque wrench for the future, to periodically check your wheels, and to absolutely check them whenever a wheel has been removed. And, consider a small air compressor....the day will come when you WILL need it. If you find a tire low one morning, you won't have to worry about finding a gas station. We have been very happy with the Viair 88P with an add-on additional air hose, available on Amazon along with a separate purchase soft carry case. There are Forum members who carry much, much more, but have the room to do so.

Welcome!! We just bought our 22ft Sport about 6 weeks ago and loving it is an understatement. We went from a small pop up to the sport. I just towed it yesterday through center city Philadelphia and it felt like it wasn't even back there. Enjoy your dream, we are enjoying ours!!!

I have my 30FB Bunk on order right now - this was helpful to create my checklist. Why the two extra hoses for water flush? I expected to have just one extra hose for flush of black water.....

Congrats! We love our 19CB TB and so will you. To add to the tool list, alan wrenches. Our first outing in our TB resulted in towel racks and the shower retainer falling off the wall.

Always remember to push forward on the hitch release button before removing
And don't forget to crank up those stabilizers before trying to remove hitch
It won't work otherwise and you will probably yell at your wife ,,,

I have experience with forgetting the corkscrew on our maiden voyage with our 91 Excella. Was able to Macgyver it though. carry at least two now.

I am envious! My husband and I purchased our 19’ Tommy Bahama this past May and because of some extremely bad luck have not used it yet.

Please post an update on your maiden trip this weekend.

Congratulations. You won’t regret buying your AS. The first trip can go extremely
well or can be frustrating. If you are boondocking as is mentioned below, be sure to check out all your systems at home. The water supply and water pump; the hot water if you intend to use it; the refrigerator running on gas and not using battery power. Staying in a facility with all services is always easier and avoids many potential issues. We eventually acquired two batteries; bring along a Honda 3000i generator; plenty of drinking water and generally cook outside. All AS owners manage to find their way but also take time getting there. Expect a few problems to solve and if you have none, bravo. If you do have some, great learning experience. Best of luck always.
