Wow, we did it!

For years we've been wanting an airstream. We found ourselves trading a box trailer for a box trailer, time and time again.

This time we finally put some money down and ordered a flying cloud 30! We were really wanting a classic 33 but just couldn't justify the cost difference.

Can't wait until it finally rolls off the line and we get to take it out come spring. Our jayco will be missed but we knew as soon as we set foot into an airstream that this is what we've been looking for.

We live about 2.5 hours from JC so we did the factory tour, that was very much worth the trip!

What an amazing trailer - you’ll love it! Best floor plan in my humble opinion (but I am bias as I too own a 30’)

Congratulations on your new AS. Should be a really nice one. How long do you have to wait for it?

Enjoy!

And welcome to the forum as well!

Congratulations on your new, soon to be delivered, AS! If you were never hooked, the tour might just convince you. We love our 19' and waited quite awhile before we could justify it; not the money so much as the time to spend in it. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Congratulations. We just picked ours up yesterday after waiting for 5 months! Flying Cloud 30 RBT (twin beds) with Truffle interior. The only other options were full awning package and factory rear camera.
Now we have to escape Vermont in January to test it out!

The dealer told us late February - early March. The wait is going to kill us haha

Same boat here. What dealer did you purchase it from?

Hi

Congratulations !!!

One of the "interesting" things with having the trailer come in in February - it's still "keep it winterized" time of year. Yes, you *could* go out camping. It also might be 20 below If so it's going to be mighty uncomfortable in the trailer.

Some things on the todo list:

1) Take a look at your TV relative to a 8,800 lb trailer. That's not to say you need a new TV, only that it's something to dig into. There's still time to shop if something does need to be done. Better to do this while there *is* time.

2) Hitches are a *very* emotional subject here. You may (or may not) have a hitch that you are happy with. If you need a hitch, sit back for an "exciting" ride if you ask for advice here on the forum.

3) Just like your previous trailers, the AS needs to be stored somewhere. That may (or may not) be the same place you have previously used. Even AS trailers are "happier" if stored indoors / under cover.

When we bought our trailer, the dealer was willing to store it on his lot for free for the first three months after purchase. I believe we "stored" it for a grand total of 18 hours and occupied it the entire time

Lots to keep you occupied until February !!!

We have a 2016 RAM 3600 4x4 4 door long bed dually. Cummins diesel and 4.10 gears. It out weighs the trailer lol. Sure is nice though for my 40 foot 25k gooseneck trailer. I recently realized that one of my YouTube videos made its way over to this forum, so some of you may have seen my truck pulling our jayco.

We have a TS centerline hitch. Not super thrilled with it, but it does the job.

Congrats and consider carefully what the weather is the day you tow home. Last thing I'd want is a coating of road salt from under Lake Erie getting in the nooks and crannies of that new trailer.

Hi

Best to *assume* it got hauled from JC over the same salty Ohio winter roads. Plan on getting out the pressure washer and giving it a good spray off once it gets "home".

That long wait is going to hurt.
Look at it this way.
If time seems to go slow its like living longer.

We are crazy about our 30 footer.
Its a good thing because we have been living in it for 6 months!

Congrats on your new Airstream. We're going to JC next week to take the tour, and hopefully see our ordered FC28 being built. They say it's scheduled to leave production on the 12th-13th, so we'll take the tour on the 12th.

Now we just have to decide on the weight distributing hitch, not wanting to start a discussion here though.

Congratulations on your purchase. We returned home from the dealer, kicked the crazy idea around all weekend and Monday called back. Our trailer was gone - they'd sold it to the other couple looking when we were. No worries tho, they'll order us one at same price. BUT, we have to wait weeks and weeks (back in 2004-5 the lead time was shorter :-)

Really exciting, glad for you. Pretty cool to live not so far from JC, and also to have such a great dealer in Haydocy. Enjoy the anticipation and, like Bob says, use the time to check out all the details and have fun dreaming.
