The seat does cover the entire time; it's not like there's a gap. We'll see how it works.
Well, I would recommend everyone get a nice white wooden seat for the toilet and you will see what you are missing. Easy to clean and just plain more comfortable. It also raises you up about an inch that seems to make the legroom more bearable.

Highly recommended upgrade for about $24 - $34.

Use the elongated seat. I pulled into Home Despot with the Airstream in tow early one day and asked to visually try to fit various lids to the wretched round bowl. A round lid lets the porcelain protrude from under the seat and lid. The elongated seat fits less oddly.

Get any old brand you like. They are all standard and you'll pay an extra $15-20 to have RV branding.

I’ll disagree, but that’s just me. The elongated holes on the rear fitting let you slide the seat forward for a perfect fit!

Now if I could only find one of those padded cheap plastic seats from the fifties!

Notwithstanding the discussion about "overspray", my wife's problem was the plastic seat. She felt it was too flexible and didn't feel secure sitting on it when the lid was down.

I went to Lowe's and bought a wooden round seat that was solid and much more substantial. There was some Dremel work involved to remove the plastic cap portion from the back of the original seat that covers some piping, but was easy to cut off and secure to the bolts of the wooden seat and the fit was perfect.

Two pics of the elongated seat on the round bowl.
Whether your preference is elongated or round, I do agree that the wooden seat is much, much better!
I got this one at Lowe's - about $30 - not a soft close type, but we're okay with that. The vacuum break does not interfere in any way; I doubt I'll even notice it there after a while.

Very interesting thread! We just purchased a 2019 27 Flying Cloud (which is unfortunately going straight into winter storage) to replace our 23 foot. We will definitely be replacing the toilet seat before we head out in the spring! Thanks!

Little round potties are on par with outhouse seats IMHO.

We tried the elongated toilet seat on our Dometic 310 and found it improved matters, but not as much as we'd hoped for.

So we got the Dometic 320 with the sprayer attachment. It's been great.

Now if only we could make the room bigger.

Wonder if a door that bows outward is feasible....

Any way to install a sprayer without having to buy a whole new toilet? - we’re in BaseCamp.

Not sure which toilet the BaseCamp is equipped with, but this is the sprayer for the 310/320 Dometic toilets.

Ask your husband to “please be sweet and sit on the seat!” Problem solved

DpMarshall, pretty sure there is (I found a thread here somewhere last year before I knew I'd want one). I think you tap in to the water line somewhere - maybe at the sink?
Anyway, a sprayer is now on the modification list. I think I can be happy with just that and the elongated seat.

Curved Door?
She wore Blue Velvet...
I remember an old thread where the owner had some mobility issues, and made access to the water closet easier by removing the door and the wall that its hinge attached to. (The wall on the other side conceals the vent stack.) Then they hung a heavy curtain rod, made a thick sound absorbing curtain from upholstery velvet lined with a quilted fabric. Inside THAT she made a washable cloth hanging pocket caddy... which instead of shoes held spare washing and cleansing products. If memory serves, they got a plastic drapery wand to move the curtain back.and forth, and avoid a need for frequent washing or dry cleaning.

Of course, if one is single, leaving the bath door open is fine IF the outside door is closed and locked. "You-hoo are you decent?" is not a question I ever want to answer from the "piece-wah"

Replacing the whole shebang with a better toilet? This thread has hit a nerve.

This is gonna be gross, but the kind of gross I wouldn't want to "share" with a professional repair person. My first RV had a plastic toilet (bleah) but it had a pedal in the front which could be activated with either foot, toe or heel... can't find that in porcelain. Am I missing something? Would I be happier with a "hand flush"?

So shopping Amazon, what all do I need to order? Don't want to stop in mid-job for lack of a part or sealant, etc.

Cleaning wand- to empty, refill & bleach 2X
Vapo-Rub- under nose, coroner's trick
Toilet
Wooden seat
Sprayer
Flange
Seal?
Spare bowl seal?
Anything else?

Hey Foiled, the toilet bowl we have is ceramic; it was just the seat/lid that was plastic. I think replacement RV toilets with foot pedals can certainly be found in ceramic. I've never replaced one in an RV, but in a house it's pretty easy and how different can it be...?

Read the aqua magic description carefully. In the 2005 22CCD the bowl was definitely plastic! And you CAN buy very cheap home toilets with plastic bowls and tanks.

What I hate is the SIDE flush. One has to pirouette and flush with the right foot, and I am naturely left footed. A front & center pedal works better for me.

Internet shopping isn't easy. Finding specifications seems to vary, even within one manufacturer. And now if I decide to keep the current toilet, I will have to find the model from the manual because it doesn't seem to be sold to the general public. 310/320 rings look okay so.... maybe.

Which is why I went with the FC 26 - all that great knee room. When contemplating purchasing the 27, I was informed I could rotate the bowl slightly inward from it's current fore/aft facing position that might be enough to give a sitting person knee clearance.
Everyone should sit, or they do the cleanup.

We keep a plastic spray bottle of soapy water handy. Give the bowl a spray before you go and it helps with the “slide”. (Or helps with clean up!)

We have been using this method for years in our aircraft toilets to keep the “skid marks” out of the bowl. With the bowl dry spray it with “Pam” cooking spray to keep the marks away.

Some models of Sealand toilets are porcelain. We have one of these. It has a pedal flush on the left when facing the bowl. It also has a sprayer.
